A Match Made in Hell
The Griffins and the Gallos have been battling for control of Chicago’s underworld for generations.
Their bitter rivalry reignites when Aida, the youngest and wildest Gallo sibling, crashes a party at the Griffin mansion, accidentally setting fire to the library.
To stave off all-out war, her father arranges a marriage with Callum Griffin, eldest son and heir.
Cold, ambitious, and brutal, Callum is determined to tame his headstrong bride. Aida is more than capable of giving as good as she gets – starting with poisoning Callum on their wedding night.
In their struggle for dominance, who will break first?
The Lark Notes:
Aida is my spirit animal. She’s wild, passionate, and outrageous. Callum is the only man who can tame her. These two start out trying to rip each other apart. Soon they can only rip each other’s clothes off. I love this story because it launches the saga of the Griffins and the Gallos, and because it has so much humor and heart mixed in with the danger and adventure. – Sophie

★★★★★ "SEXY, UNIQUE, AND EXPLOSIVE! You will not regret picking up this book! Aida is the spitfire that Callum never knew he wanted in his life, but boy does he learn quick. Along the way they must learn how to love each other, no mater the trials that are put between them."
★★★★★ "Brilliant steamy enemies to lovers romance! I love reading Sophie's books, they've always got the perfect amount of everything to keep you hooked, I'm like an addict with her books, always wanting more! Aida is my favorite female lead from any book I've read, she's just so sassy and headstrong, she's real and easy to relate to. It was beautiful watching her relationship with Callum change. You won't be disappointed with this book and make sure you give yourself plenty of reading time because you won't want to put it down."
★★★★★ "2020's Sexiest, Laugh-out-loud, Entertaining, Enemies to Lovers Romance! Sophie Lark took mafia romance and added the best banter and humor to make it an exceptional read that had me hooting with laughter"
★★★★★ "This is by far the best hate to love/arranged marriage I've read. The story is exciting, funny, full of drama and the characters are fierce, stubborn and so interesting. Aida and Callum are real enemies from her being part of the Italian Mafia and him the Irish mob, to hating each other after an unfortunate fire. I loved the banter, the animosity and the revenge plots these two came up with. A refreshing way to write a familiar trope!"

Sophie lives with her husband, two boys, and baby girl in the Rocky Mountain West. She writes intense, intelligent romance, with heroines who are strong and capable, and men who will do anything to capture their hearts.
She has a slight obsession with hiking, bodybuilding, and live comedy shows. Her perfect day would be taking the kids to Harry Potter World, going dancing with Mr. Lark, then relaxing with a good book and a monster bag of salt and vinegar chips.

Callum and Aida are from rival mafia families. They both live in Chicago, he’s from an Irish family and she’s from an Italian family. Griffin is the oldest sibling, and only son of the Griffin family, at 30 he’s ready to get into politics to help out the family business. Aida lives with her father and 3 brothers: Dante, Nero, and Sebastian, and wishes they’d let her join in. At the beginning of the story, Aida and her brothers end up crashing Nessa Griffin’s birthday party and Aida sneaks into the family’s house. She ends up looking around in the library, starting a fire to escape when Callum enters, and sealing a family heirloom. This of course starts some drama between the two feuding families. Sick of the fighting, losing members of their families to one another, and just all the drama, Aida’s father and Callum’s father decide to sit down and meet and come to an agreement. They decide Callum and Aida will marry to form an alliance between the families to end the feuding once and for all.
I loved this book from the start! This is a legit enemies to lovers with both constantly messing with one another, she even almost kills him on their wedding day! 😅 I loved seeing their hate for one another and just all their shenanigans: he forces her hand with a pre-wedding spa day, she swaps out his wedding tux, the wedding kiss (strawberries). I loved how much family was a part of the story: after the wedding, Aida moves into his family’s home, she understands their family loyalty, her relationship with her brothers, and her being friends with his sister Nessa. Aida is badass and amazing! She has wanted to be a part of the family business and I loved seeing Callum listen to her and all she knows. So many amazing action moments in this book and the chemistry was just fantastic! I can’t wait to binge this series now and totally regret not starting sooner!
4.5 stars
This is Callum and Aida’s story.
This book started off crazy and didn’t stop until the very end and I enjoyed every minute of it. Aida and Callum don’t have the best meet cute and their fathers come up with a plan to stop any further family rivalry.
I honestly didn’t know if Callum and Aida would survive the honeymoon let alone the marriage, but things take an interesting quickly. I did get a little confused about the incidents that take from Oliver to “The Butcher” to the election, I’m not sure how they could focus on anything fully, but it did bring broth families closer.
I really we got to see Callum and Aida fully functions couple, well fully functions as these two could get. I definitely loved out Callum was so cold about everything, but he couldn’t control his emotions around Aida especially his jealousy. I wasn’t sure if I would like Aida because in the beginning she was bit hard to connect with, but I was pleasantly surprised that she wasn’t as bratty as she portrayed herself.
Callum was truly her dark knight and she was his secret weapon.
I wonder what lies ahead for the rest siblings.
This was my first “mafia” type book and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it!! I did a little side eye at some of the dialogue and misogynistic thinking towards the beginning of the book, but I’m glad I hung in there because I had a feeling Cals attitude would change for the better!
I really loved how their relationship progressed and how they came to trust and depend on one another. Spicy scenes were too tier. Excellent read!!
This is a kinda cute book about an arranged marriage/marriage of convenience. Callum is hot af and Aida is my new favourite FMC. She's strong, smart and funny! And speaks her mind. And the writing is good. Love it.
I wouldn't call this book dark romance tho. And the prince could be more brutal, lol.
Can't wait to dive back into the life of the Griffin/Gallo, but I hope the other books in this series is darker.

Aida is spunky and sassy while Cal is cold and calculating. Even though they hate each other, soon sparks start to fly and the gloves (and clothes) start to come off..
This series is set in the Chicago mafia/mob world.
It has my personal favorite enemies to lovers trophe done perfectly slabbed with heavy tension between the two.
While Callum may be Mafia royalty, Aida steals the show with what an actual badass she is. I fell in LOVE with her strength and an overall power.
W.W.A.D is my new mantra.
I fell in love with this series instantly. The budding mafia war, the families, the aesthetic, the SPICE 🥵

Our two leads are Callum and Aida, they are a true enemies to lovers romance. Thrown together in an arranged marriage after too much trouble has effected both mafia families. They truly hate each other but we all know what they say about love and hate being a very fine line. Tensions of all kind are high whenever these two are in the same room.
Callum is the only son to the Irish mafia, he is running to be an Alderman of Chicago knowing that there is more power when you are part of running the city. He isn’t the most likeable for most, but he is charming and puts on a good show. He is handsome, dangerous, possessive and dare I say jealous 😏 He thinks he knows what everyone wants out of his campaign but a wild spit fire sure shows him he doesn’t have everyone pegged. He doesn’t want anything to do with this marriage but what is he without his family, the power, and the respect so he will play the game and get things done. He doesn’t expect Aida to surprise him as much as she does, and he can’t deny that he likes it.
Will his arrogance be his down fall?
Will he really let this evil she woman into his life for real?
Aida what a freakin’ bad bïtch, in the best possible way!
She doesn’t take crap from no one, she is sassy as hell, strong and what a damn prefect match is she for Callum talk about keeping him on his toes. She’ll string him up so his toes don’t ever touch the floor, she is angry, stubborn and pretty damn awesome. She’s fearless, will do anything for her family even if it mean sacrificing herself - after all she believes it’s all her fault.
She knows more than they think, she’s stronger than he knows and she is ready for a fight. She’s beautiful, confident, and oh so feisty!
I really enjoyed this book, I am a total sucker for a mafia romance, so throwing two mafia families together *swoon*
You want drama you got it..
Banter, yup that too..
Steam, of freakin’ course..
fierce loyalty, check..

Essentially this is an enemies to lovers arranged marriage story.
Aida Gallo is part of the Italian family and Callum Griffin the Irish.
Both prominent Chicago families and longtime adversaries.
Aida causes new family hostilities to emerge when she and her brothers crash a party at the Griffin mansion and she causes a little fire along with some accidental petty theft.
Much to her dismay, she finds herself reaping the consequences of her actions a betrothal between the two families to cement them together with her and Callum as the sacrificial lambs.
So this was such a fun read and there was nothing wishy-washy about the initial feelings between our forced couple.
They initially straight up seemed to hate each other’s guts like intensely.
They had such a one-man upmanship mentality about everything they did and there shenanigans and collisions were highly amusing.
Aida is wild and has been allowed to do whatever she pleases.
Growing up among males means she’s been one of the boys for years and she’s happiest in a pair of jeans and turns up her nose at fancy dresses and such.
She bold, mouthy and a touch crass and I bloody adored her.
Callum well he originally seemed to have a bit of a stick up his butt with all his rules and regulations and lofty ambitions and expectations.
He needed Aida just to take some of the starch out of his collar and loosen him up and though he can’t initially see this she is most definitely good for him.
She helps him to kick back and allows his other side to come out and play when warranted.
Adia confounded her new husband at every turn she is so different from Callum’s usual fare and she constantly manages to surprise him and keep him on his toes
He soon realises he may have misjudged her slightly making a snap decision based on his own preconceptions.
So straight from the start these too seemed to be at war.
But even though the constant snarling and game-playing these two had such amazing chemistry and when they do manage to seal the deal they were explosive together.
They are complete opposites but together they do work balancing-out each other’s extremes.
This was an easy page-turner that had no problem keeping my attention.
It was action-packed, well written and incredibly amusing and once both Callum and Adia start to give each other a chance they are magic together with sparks flying everywhere.
