These are great for grappling and construction. They are comfortable and lessen the banging around your knees get doing sports and even construction. They feel good but I wouldn't count on them for lessening lateral movement of the knees. The pads work great by reducing "GI" burn and the frequent drops to the knees on thin mats. Finally, I would recommend using these pads for any sort of construction work even as the padding around the knees are solid and comfortable. They feel good around and behind the knees do to the abundant material above and below the knee.

I purchased these pads for jujitsu . They offer excellent protection . I ordered the large size . My knee measurement was at the 14 in ( low end of large scale ) perhaps medium would have been a more supportive fit at the knee. It fits fine at calf and thigh but a bit loose at knee . Stays in place for most part during class and though out a five min roll. Some times I wear a under wrap just over knee then pull on brute pads and this is perfect . Pads offer dense protection on four sides of knee cap plus thick padding over patela . I highly recommend !

I wear these for aikido not wrestling. They have great padding and don't slide around too much. My knee hits the mat a lot over the course of a class, test or seminar, and these provide good protection, but I don't know how they'd do under wrestling conditions.

I got this knee pad to use in Jiu Jitsu, but I ended up going with an ASICS Super Sleeve. The reason is that the padding on the super sleeve really grips your knee cap the whole way around, whereas this one has separate padding areas that actually put an uncomfortable amount of pressure on the outside of my kneecap with the rounded section you can see in the picture. These aren't bad by any means, just for Jiu Jitsu I'd go with the ASICS.

Saved my knees. I started BJJ about a year ago. After about 3-4 months I was training 3 times a week and after 15 years of rugby beforehand my knees were killing me. With these on everything feels 100% and I can start standing or on my knees and feel completely comfortable. They felt pretty tight when I got them but they stretched a bit and are perfect now so get a size lower than what you'd expect. They look a bit worn but the actual build is in no way compromised. I use them for Muay Thai as well sometimes and wearing them in addition to shinguards (mma or kickboxing style) is comfortable even for extended training sessions.

Great knee pad. I got the blue one. The back mesh gets dirty quick. The pad sits well in place, but sometimes moves around. It isn't tight fitting like a sleeve and you'll notice areas that have gaps. Very light. Provides decent protection although sometimes if you shoot or sprawl and hit the mat hard you'll feel it. I use this for Brazilian Jiu-jitsu with a gi so no comment on how it would perform with shorts.

I actually like the Asics super sleeve better because it fits like a tight sleeve. However, it feels heavier and thicker than the brute when wet. The brute dries quicker so it doesn't get as smelly as fast. Quick tip for people with smelly knee pads, soak in vinegar then wash and dry it in the sun.

I'm an automotive technician and my knee was killing me from racking cars so I wear this brace under my pants and now because of the brace my knee doesn't hurt. It stays in my place to my surprise and stays cool.

I was looking for a knee pad more for protection and, well, padding from the mat, while my knee is healing, and less for support (I already had the shock doctor knee wrap and it wasn't providing enough protection). This pad provides both protection and support, is a good fit with the stretchable material (I got the small size - I'm 5'9" / 145pds). In addition, even though it says clearly "Sold individually" and the image only depicts one pad, I received two. Not sure if it's a mistake, but can't really complain about that :)
