That's when I found this one. The inside is white ceramic, and I had no problems with a film or stains developing. And the outside has no paint to peel off, so I thought it was the answer. Unfortunately, the problem I have with this one is far worse. Every time I used it, I washed it and put it in the dishwasher upside down to drain. After using it for some time, however, one day after washing it I got distracted and left it on the counter upright rather than turning it upside down to drain. When I went back to it, instead of just water in the bottom of the cup, there were droplets of coffee. It didn't make any sense to me because I knew I had washed it thoroughly, but I washed it again and blew it off. When the same thing happened again, I just had to figure out where the coffee was coming from. Since it only happened when the wet cup was left upright, it was obvious that the problem was at the top of the cup, so I pressed my finger on the inside of the rim and, sure enough, both coffee and soapy water appeared from under the rim and ran down into the cup. This tells me that there is no seal between the rim and the ceramic, which allows liquid to get under the rim. And, since there is no way to remove that rim to clean and dry under it, it is inevitable that mold has grown or will grow under the rim and there is no way to know unless you stumble across it like I did. I can't help but wonder how many people are subjected to mold in their coffee on a daily basis because of this. I am done with the Bubba brand and am now in search of a new brand that won't endanger my health.
As a college student, I carry around copious amounts of caffeine to different study locations so this product has been very, very thoroughly tested. There is no leaking (though I do try to keep it upright) and my drinks stay hot for a REALLY long time. If I pour in a boiling hot drink, it's still warm hours and hours later even if I leave the spout open. It's definitely sturdy, but still pretty light. I'd say it's probably about the normal weight of any other travel mug despite its plentiful features. There's even non-slip padding on the bottom so that it doesn't slide off of slanted desks (another added benefit is that it doesn't clink loudly when you set it down -- perfect for lectures). The plastic cap stops turning when you've closed it all the way, so there's no more struggling to open the mug because you've closed it too tightly out of paranoia of spilling coffee everywhere. The spout locks into place with a very satisfying click and doesn't rattle or flop around at all. It's also super easy to clean since there aren't any hard to reach spots. The rubber grip feels like it's of very good quality, though I do notice that its edges are kind of feathery like it wasn't cut cleanly. However, it's barely noticeable -- I only saw it because I spent so long staring at this mug and admiring it. The walls of the mug itself are pretty thick, considering the vacuum insulation plus the ceramic coating on the inside, so I was mildly concerned about the amount of liquid that it would be able to hold. However, it wasn't a problem at all. Sometimes I don't even finish my drink when I fill it up all the way (though that probably says more about my terrible hydration habits than anything else). I've noticed that the ceramic coating inside is a lot easier to clean tea residue off of than the stainless steel of my previous travel mug. The inside of the mug is pretty narrow though, so my small hands can slip inside to clean it but others will probably have to use a brush.
I can't say enough good things about the aesthetic design itself. The matte black is so satisfying and gorgeous (and feels silky to the touch!). And if I occasionally stop studying to admire how well the mug matches my MacBook, well... that's just a bonus. :) The finish does seem like it could possibly scratch, but I've been using it for about a month and I haven't noticed any damage.
Conclusion: I'm never buying a different travel mug ever again.
I like the white ceramic lining because it's easy to see when you're filling it.

What I like about this particular design is its simplicity. No hooks for my "tea bag" -- something I never plan to use in this mug. No complicated gaskets to wash. Just a simple hinged stopper. The one on our old flask remains perfectly tight after years of regular use. This new one looks just as durable. It's easy to open and close with one hand, and easy to clean. (If I experience any durability problems, I'll update this review. But for now, this mug seems pretty solid.)
I really like the silky feel of the rubbery black coating, though I'm not sure how it will wear in the long run. I'm also not sure about the ceramic lining. I've never had any complaint about my coffee's taste in simple stainless-steel flasks. Still, it seems like a a nice bonus feature. The downside is the inability to use a metal stirring implement in the mug -- something I'd never do anyway. I always mix up my coffee separately.
Coffee stays quite warm in the Hero Elite for several hours. It's possible some mugs would keep the heat longer, though this one probably loses most because of being open constantly while I drink. I use the flask for long meetings, so having the coffee drinkably warm after about three hours is all I need. If you want more than that, you may need a whole different type of mug. For me, this one is just right.
Because of the white ceramic inside the tea doesn’t lose taste.
Or for hot lemon water with honey.
In stainless steel bottles would lemon taste like a metal!
Thank you for this useful bottle!
I would give you another million stars!
