I'm over 60 years old and, while visiting my Mother, I started playing with some bubble making toys she had left out for the neighborhood kids. Bored, because of all the small bubbles, I started making some make-shift bubble circles out of coat hangers to see how big a bubble I could make. It was a lot of fun, but, because of the weak bubble solution, I was limited to bubbles of about a foot in diameter. I went on-line to try and search out some "secret" bubble formulas and was eventually directed to "The Bubble Thing" book. The price was right so I bought one. I did not know at the time that it came with a "Bubble Thing". My God!...I was making these HUGE bubbles in my living room, four and five feet across before my wife walked in and stopped me. (It's not like she's the boss, I am, in all matters...Ok, Ok, that's only because she said I could be.) Now, everywhere I go with my "Bubble Thing", I'm the undisputed center of attention. Kids and Big Kids, like me, go nuts over this thing! It's amazing and incredibly fun. I've had to order many more over the years, three or four at a shot, because I need to keep one for ME at all times. When the weather's right, and the mood strikes, I really like to break mine out. It's incredible to watch these giant bubbles glistening in the evening light, floating over my neighbors homes. Ha! My only problem is I can't seem to say no when a relative's or friend's son or daughter beg to take mine home with them. So I'd advise you to watch out for glassy eyed kids staring at your Bubble Thing or you get the, "Can I borrow that for my party next week", or "I'd love to use that for my kid's show and tell", or a hundred other reasons I hear for taking my Bubble Thing home with them. I'm warning you from experience, if you're a soft touch like I am, keep several on hand because you never seem to get them back and, really, who could blame them! This is one great uh, THING, The Bubble Thing. ; )

The Bubble Thing is the best money you'll ever spend! Kudo's to the book's author and inventor of the "Bubble Thing"! If I got paid for every smile or shriek of laughter and delight I'd brought because of The Bubble Thing, I'd..I'd do anything and everything I've ever wanted to do, buy everything that made me smile, cure the world's diseases, and feed the planet. Oh, and see a Psych for my tendency to over exaggerate. One thing I've not over exaggerated is The Bubble Thing. It is more than just a toy, it bubbles with enthusiasm and bursts with fun! (get it? bubbles?? bursts???) Just get it!

Many thanks,

Jerry

On a cloudy day when bubble-blowing is best, I often use this thing. I used to use it even when my kids weren't home, just because such huge bubbles make people happy. Now that I'm a grandma and bought one for my grandchildren, I really enjoy it and so do any adults watching (as do the grandkids, though they are too little to make the bubbles themselves). You can make your own; there are directions on the internet, but this is a really nice toy to have if you love gigantic bubbles. I make my own bubble stuff with Dawn and a bit of glycerin or follow the directions on the product. Their recipe is better than mine, but I lost the package so I'm back to the forementioned.

I got mine 2 weeks ago. I've tried it several times. And have only managed to break away about a dozen bubbles... nutz! All of the others pop while I'm trying to get them off of the mechanism. It does not appear to be broken, so I'm leaning towards operator error. We live high up on the benches but I find it hard to think the altitude would have anything to do with it. I've tried it in different wind and temperatures. And followed the directions precisely. But I'm a klutz, I guess.

I can see how this will be a giant bag of fun when I learn how to do it. The bubble size potential is quite large.

The biggest drawback I can stress, as other reviewers have said, is that there is some technique to this device. If you're not born with the Gift of the Bubble, plan to put in some practice before you can awe anyone.

This thing is awesome. Of course I tried it on a super windy day but we were still able to produce some bug bubbles and wow my sons mind! The only thing that sucks and has nothing to with the wand itself is the bending over to dip the wand into the bucket. I'd suggest having something to put it on that's tall enough to prevent that, cause if your child loves it as much as mine you will be bending over a million times..

i don't think the product is worth ten bucks; however, the experience of attempting to build a huge bubble is. it's quite simple, once you get the hang of it, blowing a long bubble but it's difficult to close them. they tend to pop easily. the first recipe, i forgot to add baking soda or powder, whatever it requires, then the second i added it... it made no difference at all. the third time i made it, i forgot the recipe so i added both baking powder and baking soda. i also used vegetable oil, and it worked the same, if not better than the original recipe.

We love the Bubble Thing. We have had one for at least 6 years and our boys love when we take it out to play. (The boys are now 20 and 17.) Every 4th of July we have a picnic at my mother's house and the Bubble Thing comes with us. Everyone from the grandparents to the youngest cousin plays with it. The reason we bought a new one is that the old one cracked. We hope to have this until we have grandchildren.

Great fun for all. Make sure to not lose the little yellow cap that holds the material in the pole. Works best on very humid days. Buying the related book "How to Make Monstrous, Huge, Unbelievably Big Bubbles" (Klutz) with the bubble thing for $11.73 is a great deal as the book has some good tips on how to get the most out of the product.

It's unbelievable how big of bubbles this thing will make. I have gotten a couple extras, and I give them to family members, or friends, cause their kids love it so much. It's easy to pick it up and start making bubbles, right away. It's also fun to figure out different techniques to get different results.
