I have used this knife to process a dozen+ animals and it has performed great. I wrapped the handle in paracord and its super comfortable and very ergonomic, fits my hand well. Most importantly, it has kept a great blade and it stays sharp through processing several animals, even hogs. Great knife. I recommend this product.

after this knife came in the mail, i found it was not as big as anticipated, but its still a great knife with a good edge and a great sheath, it also has a forever warranty which is good for someone who is a perfectionist

I bought the knife to put a handle on it, to be used as a hunting knife. I sharpened it on a Japanese Whetstone, razor sharp. The blade is a little on the heavy side, but extremely adequate for my purpose and use as a hunting knife. Very few knives in this price range are of this quality and made in the USA. I am extremely happy with this purchase.

I orginally gave this knife 4 stars but I deleted my review to write a new one.

The knife looks nice, feels good in the hand, and is made in the USA.

The sheath is ok, but the belt loop looks like it would be very hard to get a belt into it.

The way the balde curves up makes it hard to sharpen. I used this knife to skin a hog and it went dull not even half way through it. For a skining knife the blade is almost too pointed. I replaced this knife with the buck 103, I will write a review for the 103 after I skin another hog next week.

I kept this knife because I like the way it looks and it may do a good job with a different animal because hogs are pretty hard to skin. I just want my primary skinning knife to hold up well in any situation on any animal and this wasnt that knife.

There were not many reviews on this knife where it was actually used to skin an animal so I hope this helps someone looking for a knife to use for hunting.

just got it, came sharp out of the box. Nice feel in the hand. Time will tell, but pleases based on first impression.

The sheath could have been better(bit loose in the plastic liner in the canvas), but for the price its fine. I was planning on making a leather sheath any...

picture shows it with the Buck 135 Paklite Caper I purchased at the same time.

* Look at PakLite Large Black For A Better Reference *

I own several Buck knives, and I love them all, they always come sharp right out of the box. I have the PakLite "regular" in black and I couldn't use the back of the blade effectivley to spark a magnesium rod (the black coat hinders the production of sparks). So I thought I would get the PakLite Large without the black coat as an upgrade to my hiking belt. I love this knife, it is nearly twice as thick as the PakLite and has more traction ridges on top of the blade and around the handle, very ergonomic. It also has an angled tip for better penetration. I had wrapped my old PakLite with paracord for better grip and comfort, but due to the size and ridges of the new knife, I dont feel the need to do so, but I could. It is well balanced and has a nice weight to it, but it is very light for a knife its size. The sheath is of nice quality for the price, only problem is that when you pull the knife from it, the blade tends to cut the strap that holds it in place. I was kinda disapointed that the blade is smaller than that on the PakLite, when this is labled PakLite Large, but it is larger overall. Oh, and this one does spark a magnesium rod with ease.

This knife is a very good EDC fixed blade. It is small and light. It sharpens very well. It works great in cutting cardboard boxes and small usual cutting chores. Wrapping the handle in paracord makes it a lot more comfortable to use. I wish Buck would sell handles for it. Sheath is OK. I does its job. Everything in this package is geared to provide a low price good quality working knife. I think this knife might work well as a skinner in small game. I would recommend this knife if you are looking for a low price decent quality EDC blade.

This knife is built like a tank. It feels like it will last a lifetime. The more I use it, more I like. The knife is thick and robust. Buck say it is large skinner but it is a mid-sized knife. It came very sharp and needed minimal work to get it really sharp. The sheath is fine for attaching to a belt. I wish it had more options for lashing or mounting in other ways. You could make or order a custom sheath for it if you need to. This knife feels too heavy to wear as a neck knife (you would need another sheath ) but that was not important to me. This is a great value. Don't hesitate if you need a medium sized fixed blade.
