Very compact neck or keychain knife. The blade is about the same as a paring knife but works for cutting twine or paper or as a paring knife to peel oranges or apples. In an emergency it could work as a shive type knife I guess or as a scalpel. The nylon case is the same as the more expensive S30 steel model just comes in a grey rather than black, and includes the decorative box knotted rope that in an emergency could be unwound and used to tie the blade to a stick to make a spear or such. I found that if you grind down the blade handle on one side a bit you can reverse the blade and fit it into the sheath for a better handle grip - be careful on how much you take off or the fit will be loose and the blade wobble a bit. There are two versions of this and the standard steel one is the better deal if not the better blade.. I bought both to see the difference and hoped at least I would get an extra sheath for the money and I did, so I was happy

I hate having a lot of stuff in my pockets so this is a great idea in my opinion. I wear the knife on a steel chain, like the ones used for dog tags. Remove the clip and it will lay flatter. You will hardly know it is there. The knife is small but I wanted a small knife. I do worry about possible injury if the knife fell out, but the retention device seems really solid.

The Buck Smidgen is not made for every cutting task, but it works well for what it was designed for. It is a light and unobtrusive knife, and you won't even know it's there until you need it. It cuts well and sharpens easily. The only drawback I can think of is common to knives of this type -- the grip is pretty short. The lanyard makes up for this, but without it, the knife would not be as useful. All, in all, I would buy it again. In fact, maybe I will buy the S30V Hartsook version!

My wife specifically requested that I buy her a super small breast knife, one that would fit in her bra. This is what I got her and she absolutely loves it so there you go. I played with it a little it is small, too small, but it has two finger grooves, proper jimping, and a length of paracord that actually make it usable in large hands. While I use a different small knife for myself and would not consider the smidgen as an option for me, I would use it if it had been a gift and it would work well.

This is a small knife with great features. It is light, it is easy to get to, it is easy to clean, it is easy to sharpen. I use this knife when I am fishing. The jimping around the edges of the handle lets you keep a good grip when your hands are wet or slimmed with bait. You are not going to filet a fish with this knife but for the working duties of fishing it can't be beat. And it is made in the USA.

Love the small size and craftsmanship of the knife; as noted elsewhere it is not meant to replace full-size knives. It's just a cool, handy tool. I put it on my key chain after removing some non-essential keys and I appreciate knowing I can now easily open boxes, mail and cut string or yarn with it when nothing else is handy. The sheath is very solid and holds the knife securely.

I'll never need to make it into a spear tip or use it for camping or hiking, but it's nice to know that I could. I liked it so much I'm giving 2 of them as holiday gifts this year as a reasonably priced gift.

Excellent for a neck knife. You definitely want to order one of these if you are looking for a great, small, clean neck knife. The sheath is far superior to most of the garbage out there. The only thing this knife lacks is a bottle opener.

I love this little thing! Got it for myself for an easily concealable weapon just in case I ever need one.. this little thing fits nicely in my pocket or tucked into a shirt sleeve, bra, waistband, or boot/sock. It came out of the box very sharp and with an awesome sheath that holds it very well! Love the little clip as well.
