The manufacturer, Buffalo, had this to say:
"The router you have is possibly a used device as the serial number provided shows it was manufactured back in 2013 and has not been sold by Buffalo for quite some time. The symptoms you are seeing can possible be from either malfunctioning firmware or a failing wireless antenna. I would recommend a factory reset and seeing if the issue persists after."
I've had to buy another wifi router. Not happy . I expected it to last more than 4 months
Works somewhat better than old router I had. Good product.
