Through his book I not only found a solution but also change some behaviors that have shaped my new lifestyle. His book help guide me to learn how environment regulates behavior, which in turn helped me clean the clutter in my life; junk food and negative people. It can teach you to renew your mind on how and when to eat, and how much your body really needs. With the Buffer Zone, you don't need to spend money on additional weight loss aids or meals, the only 2 things you will need are "Commitment & self-discipline." The only thing stopping us are excuses, and if you're looking for one you will find one. "It's not a diet, it's a life style"
I listened to the interview for another 15 minutes and ordered the book immediately. I was tired of feeling drained, bloated, and the extra 25 pounds was starting to really wear on my 5'3" frame. I needed to do SOMETHING before I found myself on the other side of the hospital bed (I'm a nurse).
I read the entire book, beginning to end, in 2 days. I wrote a couple notes simply to wrap my head around what is now my "buffer zone"....I started following Fred's advice right away. So far, the most difficult hurdle for me personally is staying away from the cookies at 8:00 at night.
I am on week 4 of the "Buffer Zone" and I feel terrific. Really. I have lost 5 pounds but more importantly, I feel and look a lot less bloated!! I am in control of what I put into my body, food is not in control of ME!
I do wish there was a guide for primer meals included in the book. I was lost, so I messaged Fred on Facebook and he was very quick to respond with suggestions. I will be the first to buy a BZ cookbook when it comes out!
This book has really changed the way I approach my meals. I'm looking forward to reaching my goal weight without depriving myself!
The author grabs the reader from the start with his frightening near-death story, yet the book is a pleasure to read and very inspiring. More importantly, the premise of “The Buffer Zone Diet” is so completely obvious (after you read it) that you’ll want to smack yourself on the forehead and say, “Of course! This makes perfect sense!”
When you read this book, you won’t put it down and say, “Yeah, yeah, what else is new?” You’ll WANT to lose the weight, once and for all, like you never have before. But that’s not all; you’ll believe you actually WILL lose the weight this time. The author takes you step by step through different levels of “the zone” to prevent the frustrating plateaus that doom most diets.
The book contains plenty of graphs and tables for those who want to delve into the day-by-day details of the author’s journey, but the data is also easy to skip over if you just want to focus on the plan.
For me, the most important takeaway from this book was that the bathroom scale LIES. Every dieter suspects as much, but the author teaches us why and refers the reader to a useful app that will keep you on track despite the occasional disappointing weigh-in. This alone is worth the price of the book.
As others have stated, there are no recipes in the book because you can eat whatever you want on this plan as long as you manage your portion size and the timing. Since everyone’s food preferences are different and the internet places millions of recipes at our fingertips, I don’t see this as a deficiency.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who has tried and failed to lose weight. This book is truly different.
