Having never read any of Isaac Hooke's books I didn't come with prior expectations. I think I am now a fan of his books - if Bug Hunt is anything to go by, they are action-packed. Bug Hunt has a well plotted story and I liked the characters, particularly Rade, Tahoe and Shaw. Bug Hunt is a new series that is set in the same universe as many of his previous books; you don't have to have read any of his (Hooke) books to know what is going on in Bug Hunt as it is a standalone book.
Rade is the leader of a band of security consultants (just don't call them mercenaries, at least not in their presence - unless you want an ass-whipping that is). However, not all is going well with our team of 'security consultants' - Rade is in some financial doo doo and can't seem to extricate his emergency funds from his bank. They decide to take on a customer willing to pay a large sum of cash which Rade hopes will extricate him from his troubles. However, they find out that their mission, while sounding reasonably easy, may in fact get them all killed. If you like large monsters and don't mind an AI with a less than cheery attitude towards human beings, then absolutely pick up your copy of Bug Hunt and get reading - looking forward to pick up my copy of the next book :)
Please note: this book does contain one sex scene and the book as a whole has more mature themes.

This is the first book by this author that I have read and I must say that it was an enjoyable experience. I found that I just didn't want to put it down. Fade and his crew of loyal misfits has quite the galactic adventure with enough character development to make you actually care about everyone in the story. Go ahead, you'll like it. Cheers!

My first taste of Issac Hooke's storytelling has me hooked. This is an outstanding military scifi tale enlivened by the characters of his MOTH/SEAL analogue buddies and his tough girlfriend, who is soon in mortal danger. The combat sequences are fast and furious. The scene shifts are well done. The writing is smooth. And the overall arc of the storytelling never has a slow spot. I quite enjoyed Bug Hunt and have bought Book 2. Looking forward to reading more adventures of Rade the Bug Killer and merc security consultant! Highly Recommended.

Did you ever wonder what happened to Rade Galaal and his Ex-MoTH team members. Well. They are security consultants for hire.
Our hero & his friends are involved in a biological warfare hazard, add in some space travel, a few aliens and some interesting 'bugs', and voila! A good book to read

Fast moving story, and more depth than expected in other areas make this a well rounded read!

Tried this on the recommendation of another author, and I was not disappointed. A fast paced story filled out with depth in a variety of story elements, including the psychological, technical, and interpersonal. Quite satisfying, especially since there’s quite a few more in this series yet to read, and some earlier books that look interesting too!

This man can write. I love the characters in this series. They are complex, brave, strong and fiercely loyal. They have a long history of working/fighting together and I feel like I know them. I believe the character of these men and women reflect the ideals and character of the author. Brave Mr Hook!

This is a great start to this part of the series and makes me want to catch up on what has happened in past books. The action scenes are well done and really thought out. The characters are rich even though some of them are sentient AI, which makes them even more interesting.

I enjoyed this. A credible universe and a combination of humor and tension throughout. If you like military scifi with spaceships, AIs, aliens, and mechs, this has it all. Now I have to read the rest of the series :) Why only 4 stars? I consider that pretty good, with 5 reserved for things that blow me away, and those are rare by definition.

"gotta stop doing these missions of mercy."

Rade Galaal and his team of ex-MOTHs are badly in need of serious money if they are to keep their ship and equipment from repossession. And they haven't been paid for their services, either. So when Green Systems, Inc. offers a big payment for what sounds like an easy security job, Rade is instantly suspicious, but what can he do? Take the job, of course.
This stand alone story is the first of what promises to be another great series by author, Isaac Hook. As always, the book is exciting and inventive, the characters rough round the edges but strangely endearing, their conversations comic, sometimes a little lewd, especially under pressure - and that pressure comes thick and fast as they fight for their lives against formidable foes. It all feels very real, despite the futuristic technology which is described sufficiently well to be visual and viable but never ever boring.
Great characters, great adventures, great fun - great book. Recommended

The prospect of scifi in the style of Adams and Pratchett is quite appealing but unfortunately Bug Hunt does not live up to these standards. At first the characters are irritating and generic with an unimpressive plot but it does improve towards the end. Not enough to want to pay for book 2 though. Overall it was ok but there's nothing new here to get immersed in. If this and the rest of the series were free it would be worth reading but i wouldn't recommend paying for it.

The return of Rade Galaal and his MOTH team. A welcome return indeed. Fast paced story with some interesting twists - one or two predictable, most not, which really adds to the enjoyment. I am looking forwards to reading the subsequent books in the Argonauts series.

The moths are back and better than ever all our favourite people and no military big wigs telling them what to shoot
The action is fast paced and rumbles along in a way that envelopes you and before you know it the time has flown as you run around the galaxy chasing the next paycheque so the team can keep the ship in the "sky"
Definitely a welcome reunion with the team that introduced me to Isaac Hooke
