I find these things so entertaining, I wanted to upgrade to a more powerful one. 4000 volts!! Yeahaw!!! So I took the plunge and bought the biggest and baddest fly swatter off of Amazon. I received it last night.
Me, with my 4000 volt swatter, and my wife with the $5.00 model armed up, dressed in our hunting hear, packed a few or our favorite beverages and headed out to our hammock. Sure enough the mosquito's soon started to bombard us.
While my wife, with her $5.00 model, was killing mosquito's left and right, I only killed one with this model. Swinging at the nasty criters, they just bounced off the racket without getting fried.
I touched the metal grate with my finger and felt the current run up my fingers, thus it was working.
Analyzing both the cheap model and this expensive model, the problem is in the metal grate screens. In order for the mosquitos to get zapped, the insect must hit both screens on the racket to get fried. Hitting one screen will not create the circuit to zap the bugs.
The cheaper models racket screen had large openings on the outer screen making the bugs easier to hit both screens to get fried. The 4000 Volt model, the screen holes are much smaller, thus the insects never touch the second screen to make an arc and become electecuted. They just bounce off the outer screen.
I was planning on returning it, but since I have to pay for shipping and a 20% restocking fee, it isn't worth my time.
Back to the product. I ordered the Executioner brand a week or so back and tried it out. Didn't have the knockdown power I expected and to tell the truth wasn't the top quality I expected either. This model claims to have more power, which it should since it takes 2 "C" batteries compared to the 2 "AA" batteries the Executioner takes. I haven't been able to test it out yet the way I wanted to because the weather got colder out plus it seems the insects and bugs have told each other to stay away from my porch now.
I did get a fly though and it fried it rather well and didn't even find it. This model has a larger surface area compared to the Executioner brand and honesty seems stronger and built better. There is no light on it though to attract mosquitoes or moths but it says somewhere in the description there is a light to attract insects. "Integrated Light on the handle turns off and on to attract insects"..........(Unless they call the red dot power light an attracting light source) Kind of misleading but save yourself money and buy this one over the Executioner. They both are novelty ways to kill those pesky bugs, face it. Not sure how long either one will last but I can almost tell by the construction of both that you better, never drop it on a hard surface or hit it on something while swinging it through the air. I suggest not to spend over this price of around $12 because you're not getting anything any better.Read more ›

Solidly built and powerful. Uses 2 C batteries. It is like having an outlet powered hanging bug zapper... but it's portable (and no blue neon insect attracting light, of course). Read morePublished 1 month ago by guynamedphil

The zapper works fine. However I can't say it "kills better" than other zappers that can be bought for $4 on fall sale. A dead bug is a dead bug. Read morePublished 7 months ago by DJC
If you've never had a bug zapper racket, this is the one to own. It takes 2 C batteries, which compared to other rackets that only take AA batteries, has much greater zapping... Read morePublished 7 months ago by emjl2013
Tried several versions. Reordered this to have one handy for inside. Deadly. Clears the veranda of cluster flies like magic. An occasional swipe keeps them away. Read morePublished 9 months ago by Granthelper
Fairly large, about the size of a racket ball racket. Packs a punch, tested it on the ball of my hand and it left it numb for a couple minutes. Read morePublished 10 months ago by Bonham
Better construction than the small yellow zappers but definitely does not kill yellow jackets. (Stuns them enough so one can deliver the coup de grace with a shoe though. Read morePublished 10 months ago by Aristides Pappidas
