Many of the positive reviews here are from people who bought this for other people as a gift. That makes sense because if you tried to use this yourself, you might get frustrated. The edges with pegs work okay, but the Lego's are loose and will fall off. The edges with holes are messed up. The horizontal distribution of holes on this mug is uneven and won't fit Lego's in that direction. Note: Much of this Lego mug does not fit Lego's except for thinner pieces with very specific orientations. They are not even close. No chance. Look at the image of the mug shown in the pictures. You can visually see the non-standard spacing going left-to-right. On the "hole" sides, you can only mount Lego's vertically and even then they are quite loose. One of the images here shows the mug with Lego's loosely strewn around it; that's probably because they fell off? The idea behind this mug is awesome, but the execution needs improvement. From an engineering standpoint, I hope the maker can improve it to eventually use standard Lego spacing. It's extra problematic because it carries a Lego price tag and it's not made by Lego. Update (2016): This mug is no longer outrageously priced which removes the sting of tinkering with it. So I've raised my rating.

The side holes don't fit my legos... I guess if it says that it has Lego compativility, all the holes would fit... but they don't. Still an awesome product. I'm just a bit disapointed about it.

I'm sorry, but I do not consider having only one-side that works with Legos as "compatible." The main selling point is that you can build something cool, but if you can't attach anything to the sides or bottom there's no ability to make anything. We are returning this item immediately.

There's good and bad with this mug. As has been posted widely, the concave holes are spaced so that you can connect x1 post bricks, but cannot post bricks that are two more posts wide. This just means you need to be a bit more creative about your build. The pegs and holes are also not always as precise as Lego is known for, so sometimes a brick isn't going to stick unless you really press it down.

As is noted in the product description, this mug doesn't come with any Lego or other bricks so if you don't have any handy, pick up a few small sets or steal some from your kids/neighbors/that weird uncle who nobody talks about.

All of that said, a mug covered in Lego is fun and shouldn't be taken too seriously. I'll likely not drink from it (unless I want to entirely re-do my build), but it's a great conversation piece or desk candy.

I asked for and received this as a Christmas present this year since I'm very solidly a lifelong LEGO fan. It seemed on paper and the computer screen like a fantastic idea- but in practice the implementation has a few issues with it.

The first- compatibility with LEGO bricks- has been addressed somewhat by other reviewers. The studs on the 'front' of the cup, on the left side of the pictue used on the site, are not quite properly spaced and/or are a little small such that some LEGO bricks will not want to properly grab on to them and will thus fall off. Some things stick very well- the base plate from a LEGO Collectible Minifigure seems to grab fairly well, while a Minifig itself does not. The more studs what you're trying to stick to it engages, the better it seems to work, but be prepared for some bricks to just fall right off. The 'back' by the handle, which has the 'bottom' of your standard LEGO brick works rather better, but it's harder to use since the handle gets in the way. The sides are mostly unusable as the columngs vertically are spaced (largely) properly but the horizonal appears to be off- so you can only stick 1-brick wide strips to it, as is the case for the bottomg.

The second issue is more of a practical issue with using it as a mug, and that is that the lip on the side where you put YOUR lips to drink it is VERY thick. This makes is a bit awkward to drink from the mug- it's several times thicker than any of my other (mostly ceramic) mugs. It's not unusable- but it did take some getting used to.

Finally, the studs on the grip of the handle are a bit uncomfortable when holding the mug full of liquid- I suspect I will be hunting down a 2x6 smooth-top brick to put over the studs to make it a bit more comfortable.

Got this for a Father's Day gift for my husband. We have a inside joke with Legos Didn't come with any pieces to attach and regular Legos didn't fit on.

Terrific! I wish it came with Lego bricks, because seriously, who knew it was so hard to find regular old Lego bricks? But it's fantastic either way, and it's going to be a great Christmas gift for my brother.

UPDATE

Have just heard from my brother who received this gift. Too bad I didn't look at the other reviews before buying! The holes don't match up properly with Legos and anything he tries to build just falls off! DO NOT BUY, DISAPPOINTING WASTE.

I love this coffee mug! I got it for my office as a decoration and something to make me smile when I look at it. It's perfect! I have not tried LEGOs with it yet, but plan to and will update this review once I have. As you can see from the photos, I have a Doctor Who Monsters of Doctor Who character builder set on my cup. I'm hoping to get LEGOs for my birthday soon to put inside the cup and use to decorate other parts of the cup. Will update as soon as I get them. This is fun to play with and makes me smile when I look at it.

Update 3/2/15: I found some Legos to try out with the cup. The ones and twos can fit most of the cup. Anything bigger did not seem to fit (fours, etc.). The other pieces don't fit very tightly, but it's O.K. for display. (Just a note, I taped the Doctor Who Doctors on top of the cup.)
