About the Author
Brian Benedict has served proudly with the Police and Firemen’s Insurance Association since 2008, rising to the position of Midwest Regional Sales Manager. In his current role, he is responsible for overseeing sixty representatives who are based in locations spread out from Ohio to Colorado. Having trained new department representatives and retrained veteran department representatives, he has passed on his extensive knowledge of insurance products, innovative sales techniques, and service standards time and again. While he has been an educator, however, he has also had to maintain a high standard of quality in his own work, including interviewing and hiring prospective representatives, learning how to juggle multiple responsibilities at once. A skilled public speaker, Brian has made multiple presentations to fire departments far and wide. Between 1996 and 2016, he was actively employed as a firefighter, and during that time, he earned many certifications, including Firefighter 1 & 2, Engineer (Drive Operator), EMT – Emergency Medical Technician, Hazardous Materials – B, Technical Rescue Awareness, Fire Officer 1 & 2, Fire Instructor, Fire Inspector 1 & 2, Fire Investigator, CFEI – Certified Fire * Explosion Investigator, Homeland Security Bomb School (New Mexico Tech), ATF Post Blast Investigative Techniques, and Arson Investigator – National Fire Academy (Maryland). In addition, he completed various fire investigation courses through the Indiana Public Safety Institute and the Courtroom Testimony Course for Arson Investigators. Brian comes from a family rich with military legacy: his grandfathers, Daniel Wogoman and Fortis Benedict, served in the US Army, while his father, Philip Benedict, served in the US Air Force. Growing up, Brian and his twin brother Bruce were taught the principles of service as a result. Serving five years as a wire systems installer in the Army, Brian advanced to the rank of Sergeant, and he was stationed at Fort Jackson (SC), Fort Gordon (GA), Fort Bragg (NC), and Karlsruhe (Germany). He completed the US Army Non-Commissioned Officer Academy and Primary Leadership Development Course.
