This was an excellent book to get a good solid understanding of Kendo to starting building applications with it. In my case I'm not using a .NET backend so you can skip that chapter and they provide a backend that you can use. But the examples are extremely clear, the material is logically laid out, the application that you build (a movie ticketing application) is sufficiently complex to get a broad overview of the framework, and it prepares you well to build your own applications. Its a very good add-on to the kendo documentation and I can definitely recommend this highly.

Anyways, the content is short and cute and with precise content, it keeps reading more fun and fast. I will provide more feedback once I complete reading the book. I liked this book as the examples were well written (e.g. using the Revealing Module Pattern)- Telerik tends to post very simple examples that no one actually uses. It's not a big book but easy to read and if you are developing with Kendo then this will get you up and running.

The book does not exceed 300 sheets , which I think is a good point, as it is quick to read and goes straight to the subject, in the first chapters , gives us a very good reference for the development of mobile applications, as a small guide Kendo UI Mobile, and of course, on some basic things from HTML5 that everyone should already know , Kendo UI is one of the frameworks that are taking harder and personally I quite like for its large number of features, ease use and power controls.

As you all know, ASP.NET Web API that is designed to work with REST services (and out of fashion) , it is ideal to work it with mobile applications, and in the book have a chapter on this framework , which quickly go ented and able to create a service layer of a natural and simple.

After a few introductions to the technologies they cover in the book, it delves into the framework Kendo UI Mobile, making emphasis on the framework MVVM (model -view- viewmodel ) and explaining each of the Kendo UI widgets offering Mobile.

Finally , the integration of front- end application ( Kendo UI HTML5 and JavaScript) with the back-end ( ASP.NET Web API) is made.

It really is a pretty good book, which takes you step by step in creating a fully functional application for all lovers / supporters of Kendo UI Mobile, is a book you should read if you have not already done so, if do not know anything about that client framework ( Kendo UI) or REST services ( ASP.NET web API) , do not worry , a little more attention in the first few chapters and go!

3-This book was not complex and very easy to READ

I bought this book 3 months ago and I waited for all this time without writing a review just to be fair in my words, so I will write my review in Pros and Cons.

Pros:

1-This book is short, direct to subject (which my be considered as a defect also ).
2-This book is well organized.
3-This book was not complex and very easy to READ.

Cons:

1-The book is written as a step by step guide which is not my favorite style, I think the good book is the one which lets you think in the problem or shorty as a problem-solution style.
2-The sample for the book was very simple with no new ideas or innovations or not even solve a real problem, this problem specifically forced the writer of this book to use the most easier and straight forward samples and code from each technology he used.
3-Some topics needs to be well explained more than that.
4-One of the most defects I noticed which was very annoying for me is the absence of even speaking on how to package,deploy this application to the mobile stores, every book in our field must finish by a chapter or section for deployment, what is the benefit from reading a book for developing a Mobile applications without knowing how to put this application on our mobile phones !!

As an experienced web and application developer, I have read many technical and programming books and this is by far one of the worst. The authors have a terrible "but first" style, that reads like "Do this do this and do this, but first you should have done this." It was very frustrating. Between work and family my time study time is increasingly limited and I would prefer to study materials that try to help me become a better developer and not a mind reader trying to discover what the author was thinking when he wrote it. Seriously did anyone actually proof read this. I would not recommend this book to anyone I liked.

Excelent Book for Kendo UI Mobile and ASP.NET Web API

First of all say that this book is all you need to make professional mobile applications that interact with web API services. You can learn how to develop frontend Kendo UI Mobile client application, learn how to develop backend Web API Service for mobile application, and learn how to build an end-to-end mobile application with Kendo UI Mobile using ASP.NET Web API as the service backend (frontend + backend).
The author give us all the necessary tools and tips to develop, such as IDE editors (Visual Studio), emulators (Ripple from RIM), browser extensions (Advanced Rest Client for Chrome) and KendoUI.
The book explains all the core concepts of Kendo Framework Elements (datasource, templates, MVVM), Kendo UI Mobile Widgets and Web API service (hosting, routing, binding, securing, methods) and the complete integration, around a real-world mobile sample application called "Movie Tickets" with example code files on editor’s site packtpub.com and on JsFiddle.net, so reader can easily learn and interact with them, allowing us develop real-world mobile applications for iOS, Android, Blackberry and any other os mobiles.
