Top customer reviews
Another let down, I have a 4 lb. shop hammer I tried to hang, but the weight was too much for this peg board to handle. This is definitely for light tools only, but if that's all you will be using it for, then you'll probably be satisfied. My mistake was reading the name of the kit, "Bulldog," but in reality, it rates more like a Dachshund.
Pros: Assembly time takes only a few minutes
Cons: It's no Bulldog
Overall the plastic is a more attractive option and it holds peg hooks just fine. I wish that it came with some finished edge pieces so that it wasn't just the channel grove on the outside edges. Also, I wish that the mounting system hid the screws.
It says to mount these one panel at a time, slip on the connector pieces and slide in another panel. The problem is that unless you are doing this in the middle of a large wall, you won't have the clearance to slide on the next piece. The next panel needs to lie flat on the wall to slip into the grove, so you need at least 2 feet of clearance all around. I ended up putting all the pieces together on the floor and having my wife hold it up while I mounted it. This worked fine, but it was cumbersome and I was afraid of cracking a panel.
The quality is fine, but I think you could easily crack it by over tightening a mounting screw or overloading the panels. These are a good choice if you need more attractive pegboards, but I'd choose the standard wood board for utilitarian purposes. Standard fiber board is significantly cheaper and easier to install.
The top holes are not usable as the pegs collide with the wall spacer top lip. This is true for every section, so if you have a seem halfway, then you won't be able to use the peg holes just below the seam.
The little red bins are really not very quality, almost not usable, and the vast majority of the pegs are 1/8th inch while the board is 1/4 inch - which can tend toward allowing the pegs to fall out. Plenty of room for everything I need and matches the custom shaped space perfectly with no cutting required.
Very easy and straightforward to assemble.
The really nice thing is the size of each panel. With a 4x8 wood board, you have to cut it into pieces so you don't waste a lot of space with hanging handles or find yourself putting the pegs and tools up like a jig-saw puzzle. These can be hung separately and spaced any way you like, so you can maximize the quantity of "things" you can hang.
Overall, the is more than good enough and well worth the money.
