You know that one guy that you date for a week? The one that tells you that you're perfect and that nothing can separate you, only to pull a D.E.N.N.I.S. plan on you? He's not worth the time or effort you put into the relationship or friendship. WELL, this is the song you listen to 38 times in a row until you can scream it from your rooftop and he can hopefully hear and realize that his new girlfriend is kind of a tramp.

But I'm not bitter.

La Roux's song "Bulletproof" may ruin your vocal chords from over singing the song, but who cares? it's just great.

I tend to not write song reviews, but I feel the need to balance out the other review. Bulletproof is one of the best radio songs in a while. To compare Elly Jackson to Justin Bieber is one of the nuttier things I've seen in a review, and I encourage anyone out there to give the sample a listen. They simply have very few similarities.

Anyway, Bulletproof is one of the catchiest songs to hit radio in the past half-year or so, and I think it can be appreciated in that the material and the sound is very different than your typical pop hits: strength-filled lyrics with an electropop back beat. It's biting, solid, and a great dance song. La Roux took Europe by storm in 2009, and its hard to tell if they will do the same in the U.S., but Bulletproof is a great start. Certainly, the quality outstrips most pop music on the radio today and the critical reaction to the song helps on that side. I'd say it's worth the buck to add to your collection.

My rating isn't about the song itself, because I assume you know whether you like the song before you make your purchase. My rating is based on the MP3 file you actually get from Amazon.com.

Most Amazon.com MP3s are encoded using the superior-quality variable bitrate (VBR) encoding, targeted at an average of 256 kbps. Unfortunately, this song is encoded with the inferior-quality constant bitrate (CBR) encoding. It is very disappointing to see that Amazon.com is still occasionally using constant bitrate encoding.

Also, as another reviewer pointed out, the MP3 file is LOUD, with lots of clipping (bad!). According to MP3Gain, the volume level is 100.3 dB. This means that the AVERAGE volume of the song is 100.3% of what the theoretical MAXIMUM is supposed to be. Most modern pop songs have an average volume level in the high 90s, while older songs are often in the lower 90s. If you download MP3Gain from SourceForge, you can adjust the volume level.

La Roux is turning out to be quite the retro artist. Her look is likened unto 80's acts like A Flock of Seagulls. The music sounds much like the works of Vince Clarke (known for creating groups like Yazoo, Erasure and Depeche Mode). Bulletproof is my favorite track from their debut album by a long shot. It is the catchiest tune and has more polish in my opinion.

The lyrics for Bulletproof sound like a sort of affirmation to party wild and move on from a past relationship. Kind of a cold message when you look at it, but like I said the song is really, really catchy. Lots of synthesizers play around a dancey backbeat of old school synth drums, white noise and other rhythmic analog sound effects. While the verse has a bit of a choppy feel to it (in a good way mind you) the chorus does really stand out and has all the various sounds come together to a cohesive groove. If you are a fan of synthpop give this track a listen. You may start loving it.

I love the intro to this song. It reminds me of classic Depeche Mode. The old school synthesizers take me way back. I hope to hear a lot more from this band.

Great tune, very catchy, great for parties... but misleading... I really don't think she will be bulletproof. It should be taken to consideration that simply claiming to be bulletproof doesn't actually make you bulletproof, some sort of Kevlar is required in the equation.

I discovered this song via a parody of it; I loved the parody, sought out the original and wasn't disappointed at all. This is a great mood-boost, and it's the kind of music to either get you psyched up or to make you feel better after a bad day. Viva La Roux!

I've always been a heavy fan of La Roux, and Bulletproof was just always my go-to song. It's a very upbeat song with simple lyrics that are easy to understand and sing along to. This is totally one of my club dance songs, and I shake and groove with this whenever it comes on. Completely recommend it if you like good synths, poppy techno and an addicting chorus!
