She picks up where Share Me left off, and it is easy to see that Lexie and Brian are just going through the motions as their dynamic with Derek changes. I respect Lexie here as much as I did in the first book as she really does put her marriage first. Parts are painful to read sometimes as she is in denial about what is truly happening, but in the end, it is actually Derek's sister, Vanessa, who is the biggest help.
There is a great segway at the end for Vanessa's story to be told next. I will definitely be looking forward to it! I was given an ARC of this book, and this is truly my honest review. If you enjoyed Share Me - you really need to add this to your library.
This is the continuation of the complicated relationship between Lexie, Derek, and Brian (if you haven't met them, they are originally in Share Me: The Devil Makes Three - a must read as well)
This book is not for the faint of heart, it is more for the kink lovers, the heat seekers, those that enjoy a little more extra in a romance novel.
I love that we get to see a weakness in Derek here. He shows us a more vulnerable side to him that wasn't as apparent in book 1. We also get to see more of Brian and what makes him tick as well as experience his relationship with Leche.
There is a lot of tension between these three as they navigate unchartered waters, trying to stay afloat amidst all the jealousy, temptations, and overwhelming feelings of lust.
As well as a romance and erotica, this story also contains hints of self-discovery from all three characters. They get to learn more about themselves and learn to accept and embrace it.
"I hadn’t even made it to the closet before I turned back to my bed. Welcoming. Warm. Comfortable. He’d be furious with me. I knew it. But I tried not to think about that, either. Or about the gray eyes that haunted my dreams. The ones with the wicked gleam. The devil no longer in my bed, but still in my heart. Derek. My eyes filled with tears. No. It was too much. The loss was more than I could tolerate. It was easier to just… stop. So that’s what I did. I closed my eyes and waited."
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's searing in its heat, painful in some areas, heartwarming in others, and hopeful in the end. Ms. Vox managed to create a world full of kinks and made it into an amazing story of really, well, two people who find each other despite everything else they are or were.
