Product Description

Bulova

Timex

In 1875, a young Czech immigrant named Joseph Bulova set up shop in New York City, and a legendary American watch brand was born. Bulova was trained as a jeweler, and his expertise carried over into his watchmaking career, which began around 1911 with boudoir clocks and pocket watches, and soon evolved to include what was then one of the latest and most fashionable technological innovations: the wristwatch.

Bulova introduced its first line of wristwatches in 1919. The company grew and prospered, and soon early radio and television ads were declaring, "America runs on Bulova time." In the 1950s, continuing its legacy of innovation, Bulova introduced Accutron, the first electronic watch, and the first breakthrough in timekeeping technology in over 300 years. The Accutron timing mechanism was later adapted for use by NASA computers and a Bulova timer was even placed on the moon to control transmissions of data. Bulova timepieces have kept official time aboard Air Force One and have also served as official timepieces for U.S. Olympic teams.

Today, Bulova maintains its tradition of excellence in technology and design, offering a diverse collection of beautiful precision timepieces for every occasion.

Definitely a power watch! Beautiful movement and unique see-through back feature. An absolute attention getter!! Never ordered from this company before, so i was skeptical. Package came perfect , box in-tact and most important , watch was NEW with papers as if purchased from a jeweler! I did my research first and found this was THE best price on the net as well as in the stores. My husband will be happily surprised this xmas!

My girlfriend bought me this watch for christmas 09, and it really is a fantastic piece. I have about fifteen different watches, and this is definately in my top 3. (along with another bulova and a citizen) It has decent heft to it, the movement is stunning, and I keep watching the little gears move as it ticks. Looks great, and everyone comments on what a nice watch it is. Fantastic.

I found this watch at a local jewelry store in the Mall. They had a price of $500, so I checked it out on Amazon. They had it for $190 at the time I ordered it. The current negative reviews had me a little worried, but it sounded like most of them didn't understand how th watch works. Most of the commented that the watch didn't keep time very well. This watch is an utmost if watch that does not require winding. The way they do this is to add a mechanism with in the watch that winds it from the movement of you wrist, so if you let is sit for a while it will stop running. I've had the watch for about a week and it's worked great so far and I expect it will for years to come. Also the photo that Amazon has does the watch no justice at all. It's much more beautiful in person. I may email them and ask them to update it. Their photo doesn't show the polished steel very well.

The watch is great, very distinctive looking, fits my wrist well, and has a unique style. It does not store much energy once you take it off, though, sometimes stopping before I put in on in the morning if I have not worn it constantly the day before. I have many automatic watches, and they all keep running for a longer time. Still a very nice watch and I am happy with it.
The problem with its condition was the band. I received 3 of these, all with serious scuffs and scratches on almost every link of the band. I returned 2 of them and even told Amazon of the problem so they would not send a third with the same issue. They did anyway, but offered a fair credit on the third one so I could get the scratches polished out. Looks good now, but I was disappointed with Amazon in this process. Took a few weeks to have a watch that was actually in new condition.

This watch deserves a 5 star rating....... except for the fact that when you are outside, and look at the time, the suns glare off the silver foreground around the skeleton section reflects the light. And since it is rigid makes it hard to see the time from two angles. I can wear it all week, and take it off Friday night, and the watch quits around Sunday afternoon, which is about 1.75 days of energy stored in the watch. Other than that, I get more compliments from this watch, and would recommend it to anyone that wants a classy, yet not break the budget automatic watch.

This watch is so much prettier in person. The pictures do NOT do it justice! I bought this watch for my boyfriend for Christmas and he loves it. He likes a bit of a bigger watch face so this watch is perfect. A nice weight to it but not so heavy it feels cumbersome. I like how you can see all the inner workings of the watch from the front and from the back. It is truly a beautiful watch. The crystal face is so clear and the design of the face itself is so sophisticated looking. This watch could be worn with a suit or dressed down with jeans and a button down or polo. Bulova has been my go to brand for the past 5 years and they have never disappointed. (And you can't go wrong with Overstock's prices!) LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!

Country of Origin: Japan "Movement". Hong Kong "band."...
    Price paid: 187.50

I wanted a "green (solar or automatic)" watch after then current battery in Swatch Irony ran out. After tracking this watch for well over two years, and not wearing a watch for a month I finally bit when for some reason the price nose dived that particular day.

    Pros:
The watch is big and heavy. It is LOT bigger in person.
I'm 6'2 180 and I need to take four links off the band. The head of watch covers most of my wrist...
Overall design is understated and sophisticated.
The watch is built like a tank. It is VERY musculine in design.
Few shakes of watch will power about 30 minutes of movement.

    Cons:
My real problem with this watch is of cosmetic....
Unlike the product photo, the watch head frame and the edge of the band is "CHROME."
I mean it's mirror finished full size pickup truck bumper chrome....Little loud for my taste..
The band had few scuffs on the said mirror finished edge..like it's been used.

If it was sand blasted mat metal finish like the advertised photo and had better presentation as in "not looking like the product was used," I might have given five star and gladly kept the watch but.....three and a half considering.

P.S. Amazon is definitely slipping. I would put serious lean on Bulova to get its act straight. In turn Bulova should consider changing its band vendor...or monitor the factory for better QC.

    UPDATE: 7/29/2012
I kept the watch despite the band's cosmetic flaws. The flaw is inexcusable for a jewelry/time piece product.
Worn around six hours a day, the watch's been ticking away diligently without ever worrying about it stopping.
