The world’s most accurate watch with a continuously sweeping second hand. Most quartz watches are accurate to within 15 seconds/month. Precisionist is accurate to within 10 seconds/year.
From the Precisionist Catamount Collection. In stainless steel with rotating ratchet bezel ring and bezel ratchet lock, black and red anodized aluminum bezel insert, multiple-layer silver-white dial, red continuously sweeping second hand, luminous hour and minute hands, luminous markers, calendar, screw-back case, screw-down crown, secure double-pusher fold-over buckle with safety lock, and water resistance to 300 meters.
Precisionist TechnologyWith Precisionist, Bulova has added a third prong to a standard two prong quartz crystal creating a torsional resonator. This innovation results in eight times the vibration frequency of a traditional quartz watch resulting in the most accurate watch with a continuously sweeping second hand. The aesthetic movement of the second hand becomes the symbol to the consumer of Bulova Precisionist and signals a watch with accuracy so exceptional, you can see it. The technology is accurate to 10 seconds per year as compared to most other quartz watches, which are accurate to fifteen seconds per month.

In 1875, Joseph Bulova, a 23-year-old immigrant from Bohemia, set up shop in New York City and a legendary American watch brand was born. Since that time, Bulova has stood proudly in the vanguard of timekeeping innovation, committed to the legacy of creativity and excellence established by its founder.
A pioneering force in the industry, Bulova transformed how watches were worn and how time was perceived, registering over 50 patents as he and his company built a record of creativity including the first full lines of men’s and ladies’ wristwatches (1919 and 1924). To ensure the utmost in precision, in 1920, Bulova even established its own observatory – located atop its New York skyscraper. With the same spirit of innovation, following World War II, determined “to serve those who served us,” Bulova established The Bulova School of Watchmaking, using new and unique methods to train disabled veterans for positions in the watch and jewelry industry. Then, in 1960, Bulova changed timekeeping forever with the revolutionary Accutron, the world’s first fully electronic watch. An integral component of U.S. space technology, Accutron timing was used on 46 NASA missions, including Apollo XI, the first lunar landing (1969).
Today, this dedication to creativity continues, with Bulova the only brand to offer three distinct timekeeping technologies – quartz, mechanical and Precisionist. One of the world’s most recognized brands, Bulova continues to maintain its position at the forefront of the timekeeping industry, upholding an extraordinary heritage of achievement in design, style and technology as it expands to meet the needs of a diverse global audience.

The watch has incredible heft and size. I like a watch that makes me feel like I received my money's worth. And it's built as solid as a Sherman tank. Unlike some large-face watches that look impressive but are basically junk, this one is quality through-and-through. Did I mention that it's accurate to within 10 seconds a year? Are you kidding me?
I purchased this watch for a C-note and a half as a Lightning Deal. What an unbelievable steal -- it would represent a good value for twice that price.
I got me a major horological love-fest going on with this watch.
I've had this watch for just a day now, and the seconds hand is exactly accurate from how I set it yesterday. Bulova says it should be accurate to within 10 seconds a year. The watch I got says B2 on the back, which is the date code that it was made. I've read the B1 and B2 watches are more accurate than the first B0 models. Time will tell... I have an automatic watch that's 5 seconds fast a day so I wanted something a bit more accurate, and this suits my need nicely. I love the smooth sweeping second hand. It's a hacking movement which means when you pull out the crown to set the time, the seconds hand will stop. When I unscrew and pull the crown out to the second click and set the time, the hands turn very smoothly like a high end quarts watch should. It has quick set date when you pull the crown out to the first click which is nice. Everything about the watch is quality. It's heavy but not too heavy. The pictures on amazon don't do the watch justice. The dial has a white carbon fiber look to it behind the raised hour markings, and the red seconds hand is neat to watch. The top of the watch case and metal bracelet is brushed stainless steel finished, and the sides of the case and band are mirror smooth finish which reflects the light nicely. When I look at the seconds super close, about an inch away, I can barely tell it ticking at 16 times a second. From just looking at the seconds hand a foot away, it sweeps perfectly smooth.
The metal band is Fold-Over Clasp with Double Push-Button Safety and is super sturdy. It feels like it will never accidentally come off.
I highly recommend this watch for anyone looking for an accurate Bulova Precisionist timepiece. The cheapest I could find it in stores was around 550. amazon has it here for nearly half retail cost. If you don't want a larger, heavy watch, there are other smaller, lighter, and thinner Bulova Precisionist watch models. But this watch has lots of presence and looks super sturdy. A+++++
This is my favorite watch and the one I primarily wear.
