Author Paul Levine is a lawyer by training, and his protagonists—Jake Lassiter, Steve Solomon, and Victoria Lord—are all lawyers too. In the case of Lassiter, Solomon & Lord, the saying “two is company, three’s a crowd” has never been more true. When Solomon is jailed on a murder charge, oil-and-water Lassiter and Lord must team up to try to beat this bum rap.
I’ve often heard Paul’s books described as John Grisham meets Dave Barry. I’d also throw Carl Hiaasen into that mix. Paul’s courtroom scenes are thrilling and tense, but his gift for humor shines through every scene in the book. I’m happy to say that in person, Paul is as smart and funny as his characters, and it pleases me to no end when life imitates art.
