I think why I love the characters Ms. Suttle creates is because they don't look at their differences as being solely a gift or a defect. They see the perks and the detriments of the characteristics that they've been dealt in life. She isn't afraid to show that it's not all glam in the paranormal community.
Love this author and I'm adoring this series.
I'm always a bit leery of independent authors as so many seem to think it's okay to publish with many spelling errors and scary, scary grammar. Thankfully this author, who per her bio page is a college graduate who has taught university level classes, has done a very good job of editing in her books with spelling and grammar errors at a minimum. I only noticed a few through the series which is about on par for large publishing house book releases these days.
I really like her take on the whole supernatural community, vampires, weres and shifters, oh my, and how they interact with each other and the humans. And I am very interested to continue with her other series as at least some appear to focus on characters who were either actually in, or have been mentioned in, this series.
I will say there are many, many supporting characters in these books and at times you can begin to lose track of some of them if you're not paying close attention.
Finally, this is a young adult series focusing on children who eventually turn to teens. There is violence and death in this series but I found it was not graphic or gratuitous, it did not glamorize violence and it felt natural to the world these kids inhabit.
Also included in Bumble are the appearances of several characters from the Blood Destiny series. This is a book that will please all ages, so am looking forward to reading the next book of this very interesting series.
