Real people, real relationships, wonderful realistic romance! I usually only get romance books when I can get them free because, once you've read them once, you know you won't want to read them again. But, I am buying these short story collections. I love the way a minor character from one story becomes the main character in the next. In the 5th story of the collection, they all get together for a happy-ever-after scene. The people are average, ordinary people. I haven't come across any oil sheiks, billionaires, or lost royalty. These are romantic stories that you wish your friends and family would experience in real life.
I am so glad I stumbled upon these, thanks to the free deal for the original "Flirts." I loved them so much, I've downloaded the "Bundles" and I'm working on the rest. Lisa Scott has a gift for writing short stories - she balances character development and plot with brevity just perfectly. (Difficult to do!) Each story stands alone, so I can finish one quickly when I need a break, without staying up till 2am because I can't put the book down :-) But all 5 stories in each batch are interconnected, so you'll want to read them in order and it's fun to see how the author ties the characters together.
The Wedding Flirts stories pull in characters from earlier bundles, and even though the stories are stand-alone, I like to read things in order. Here is the order of the Flirts by published date: 1. Flirts 2. Beach 3. Holiday 4. Fairy Tale 5. Wedding 6. More Flirts 7. Reunion. I've downloaded the bundles, which do not necessarily have them in order.
These books were fun to read. They do need to be edited. There are a lot of wrong names. She gets people confused several times with other characters, which I find very annoying. There are many grammatical errors that could be fixed with a few more people sessions. Simple flaws in how many sisters someone has is also annoying. They were cute stories that were creative a kept me wanting to finish to see how everyone ended up. Of course it was all happily ever after with a few miscommunication problems. Overall fun and fast to read.
Lisa Scott's 'Flirts' are always a good time! Whether they're set on the beach, at a wedding or with the girls on a night out, you'll laugh, cry and be so happy you read them. They're fun-sized short stories with realistic characters that are either looking for love, or swearing off love forever. Each one is unique but have a common thread running through them, such as shared characters or settings. They all also have happy endings so, even if you find yourself crying, you'll still always end up with a smile on your face.
I read one of Lisa Scott's short stories and was hooked. They are sweet, funny and heartwarming. These stories are all intertwined which makes it even more fun to see how they turn out and how the author connects everyone. When I saw that three of her books were bundled into one, I knew there was no way I could resist. These are really fun to read, although a majority of these romances develop really quickly, so some of it is unrealistic, but the romance still tugs at your heart.
I became such a fan of Scott's short stories after my first collection of 5. They are interesting and fast paced enough to divert my attention from the sweat and burn of the cardio machines. Sometimes I'll read one when I have a long wait somewhere! This was totally worth the money spent to me. I've purchased more and will continue to read her short stories.
It's so much fun reading these shorts! The connections are sometimes tenuous, but they are connected. Watching it all unfold (or should I say reading) is a joy! These stories make me laugh out loud and smile quite a bit. (People probably think I'm crazy or something...)
