Dungeon core living mad max with a ghost in the shell vibe!

Have been on a kick for dungeon core stories lately, and unfortunately those are far and few here on Amazon. The ones you do find that are worth your time and enjoyment are usually buried under by multitude of others taking a cheap stab at the genre. This isn't the case here, but rather a true diamond in the making! The story has multiple plots running, and its interesting how the author weaves not only the physical, post-apocalyptic world but also how we are shown glimpses of the digital world of the grid.

Trying to leave this review mostly spoiler free, so I can honestly say that this is one for the fans of dungeon cores but also sci-fi genre as a whole. The nuances of the core and the reasons for the rules as other reviewers have stated are grounded in believability, not just some divine sense of "cause it's in the script". Also really interested in the potential for this spanning more than just the ruined earth, as was hinted at and our MC briefly wonders about. This series has set the groundwork for a lot of future possibilities and we have only scratched the surface of all the other characters that have been shown or talked about. This will definitely be added to my watch list for future books!

Excellent world building, several very interesting characters and concepts, and a few particularly clever ideas along the way.

My only real problem is that it feels so *short*. The central plot consists of what's effectively a single encounter between the protagonist and a minor villain, and the major side characters get about two chapters of screen time each. It's understandable, since this is a complex and very creative setting so a fair amount of exposition is required in the first book and things will almost certainly pick up from here, but it still feels kind of lacking.

As the first volume of a long series, or as the opening section of a web serial or something like that, this would be extraordinary. Taken as a single novel, or even if it's one third of a trilogy, it leaves you wondering where the rest is.

You have to read a lot of mediocre LitRPG to find the good ones even though quality is generally rising. This is one of the good ones. I didn't buy into some of the mechanics of his character's growth, but I liked the good guys, the bad guys, and most everything else. There were several subplots, that will eventually meet and cause major world changes, and I look forward to the twisting and shaking that's bound to come.
Hopefully where there's a beginning, there's an end, and this series doesn't just carry on for a few books then gets forgotten (like soooo many others). Also, I hope Juno doesn't just get killed. She could go back to what she was doing before. Not a spoiler, just a suggestion.
One of the other reviews mentioned that this book felt a bit short, and if I had been able to read it straight thru, it might have taken 4 hours. But it would be a very enjoyable 4 hours!
I heartily recommend this book to fans of LitRPG, Science Fiction, and even Fantasy. I'd like to give it four and a half stars, but 4 will have to do.

I don't want to give anything away but it did several things different from the regular dungeon core books, and it did them well.
It still has the power creep thing reminiscent of video games, and the why makes more sense than normal but its still somewhat nonsensical. Him getting more circuits as time passes for some reason. But I like it better than the whole level thing that is prevalent in the genre.
The villain was written in a way that made me concerned that it was bordering on intellectual property theft, and they grated on your nerves. I almost put the book down during one of there monologs, but I didn't and im glad I didn't. it makes sense later, just bear with it.
That is really the only negative comment I have about the book, good story, good editing, sensible progression.

This book felt WAY too short! After Threadbare I needed something to scratch the itch and this was it... Imagine my terror when I finished and found out it had only just been released!! Now I need more Threadbare AND more Bunker Core...
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

This book drew me in and didn't let go; I figured it would last me a few days... I was off by a few days~

Tore through it in 6 hours or so. If you were a fan of Threadbare this is a nice stand in with a bit of a different vibe.

This was a very well written beginning to a series. The characters were pretty well fleshed-out certainly not one-dimensional, and even the leading antagonists were sympathetic characters. The writing was mature and smooth, much more so than many of the books that come out in the litrpg sub-genre. I had a hard time putting it down to do real life and I can't wait for the next one.
While I'm sure the author still has room to grow and improve, I like where he is already.

Fun story, well written. I like that it is a complete story arc that has enough set up for a second book, but still ties things up nicely.

Except for the mutant horse. That all just seems to be setup since they didn't interact with the main story hardly at all.

I'll admit to having skimmed over the dungeon mechanics explanation, as I try to make it fit with reality and that has no place in a dungeon novel. The rest I thought was pretty believable from an experienced fighter, although the number of things the main character had enough experience with to make him competent at started to make me wonder. Since he's not written as perfect by any means, I can buy that he's simply had an eventful life. As long as you don't think too hard about the relationship between experience and memories.

Overall, a good book and I look forward to the sequel.

Fun read in the core genre

Great book to read if you like the core genre , there are a few tiny grammatical mistakes but that is about it, the story flows well and keeps you interested in what will happen next, though in my opinion a little more detail given to building aspects would have been nice, though with the way it was laid out it worked well. Hopefully the next book will continue to be this well done.
