James C. Abbot's book likewise uses letters, in this case to the not-so-distant dead, along with the story and structure of the "Aeneid" itself to explore the relationships between fathers and sons, the idea of duty - to family, job, county and country - and what it means to love. Deeply erudite and wonderfully elegant in its prose, Abbot takes his readers on a odyssey through internal wars and ongoing battles, sagas of race and class, journeys home and back again.
I highly recommend this book.
