Rear Cargo Space
Large rear cargo space to hold anything you'll need on your adventure.
Hammock Style Seat
A hammock style seat means your child is not sitting on the floor of the trailer. Burley’s standard helmet pocket and five point harness system are key features of the seat on the Minnow. Velcro is on the seat if you would like to add padding with additional accessories.
Trailer folds flat for easy transportation and storage.
Visibility is a top concern when biking. The cover features reflective piping, and reflectors on the wheels. Burley standard child trailer safety features also include: reflectors on the front and back of the trailer, and a neon orange Safety Flag.

The Burley trailers are all a little pricey, but I was able to get this one at a slight discount around the holidays. I had also been eyeing a competitor's product (Schwinn) that reviewed very well and was much less expensive, but their lack of information or photos made me nervous. The reviews on the Burley were all solid, with the only real complaint being that it wasn't cheap. They also provided a significant amount of details on how it was designed and how it would keep your child safe. I was convinced and paid a little extra.
We've ridden well over 100 miles so far, and it's gone well. My daughter was afraid of it at first, and she still won't let me close the front cover, but she really enjoys riding with me (as long as I keep the flap open, of course!). The seat belts seem comfortable and secure, and she's fully enclosed by the metal frame. I did buy the supplemental seat pad, although I can't tell how much it helps, as she's fallen asleep mid-ride both with and without it. The hitch allows the bike to lean, which is convenient for stopping, and should prevent the trailer from flipping in the event that I fall over. The trailer is easy to break down and set up, and there are extra failsafes on both ends of the hitch connector to ensure that the trailer never breaks loose from the bike. There's also plenty of storage space in the back, so I usually keep my sneakers in there and put on my biking shoes, and also throw some snacks, toys and extra clothing/blankets in there.
The only real detriment, other than the somewhat high price, is that her head gets pushed forward a little bit by the helmet. There is a pouch of loose material on the back panel where her head rests, but the seatbelt straps run up to the top and keep her head somewhat forward. Otherwise, I don't think there are any other drawbacks. If you like riding and have kids, I'd highly recommend it.
The trailer is sturdy and well-made. Assembly was easy and I love the bright yellow cover for visibility as well as the four reflectors and orange safety flag for added safety. I highly recommend the Burley trailer if you're serious about riding, other trailers may cost less but Burley is worth every cent!
To me there is one con (for younger/smaller kids) and one complaint so far:
1) The seats have a more flexible mesh backing at the top, which provides some needed extra head room for helmets. But little kids' heads don't reach high enough. This actually ends up causing a two-fold problem, where the back of the helmet pushes up against the harder seat back, but also, kids' helmets tighten to push their head towards the front of the helmet, pushing their heads even further from the seat back. So small kids are kind of stuck with their head awkwardly forward if looking straight ahead, and the helmet can also be jarred loose by the seat back when running into bumps. So far, our son still loves the trailer (laughs, plays with toys, even falls asleep), and this has only been a minor inconvenience to him a few times on bumpier paths. But we've talked with other parents, and their children have struggled a lot more with their helmet and head position being uncomfortable. I should note that this isn't strictly a Burley Bee problem, and applies to other brands and models too. Luckily though, since heads grow bigger and children grow taller, this becomes less of an issue and disappears over time.
2) My complaint is accessories are very overpriced. $20 for an extra trailer hitch is absolutely absurd.
-very durable. I can't see this thing wearing down any time soon and should last through many, many years
-stays very warm inside with the screen down, and I'm sure with the plastic it will stay very warm down to almost freezing temperatures.
-folds down very compactly and easily and can easily fit in almost any car's back seat area
-plenty of room for kids/dogs and then a back area for accessories
-it's a rough ride inside and could use a suspension system. I need to pad the inside with several dog beds to make the ride tolerable. However, I do have the seat portion detached and folded back, so the dogs and cargo is resting on the floor
-it needs more mounting points for lights and items on the outside rear. Perhaps there could also be some more reflective points
Top international reviews
You'll need a decent strong bike to tow it with, low gearing and preferably disc brakes as the total weight of bike, rider, trailer, offspring and stuff can weigh a lot.
Update: replacement received within a few days - excellent service. For that I increase stars from 1* to 4*. Needs to be used before any increase to 5*.
Kids think it's great
What a good buy
The frame is lightweight and easy to put together. The trunk space is phenomenal! The kids seats are comfy, don't sag, and they have ample leg room/head room/adjustable straps and snack/bottle storage. I tow my 48lb 4.5 year old with my 22lb 1.5 year old and they are very happy to ride along. I can't feel the trailer when we're riding until we reach a mountain, which I probably couldn't bike up on my own anyways so we walk it (my eldest and I).
All around very happy, I'm looking forward to years of riding with this trailer and have no doubt it will be up to the task.
This product is great in terms of lightness, materials and security costraints.
What is not truthful at all, however, is that it's not "water resistant canopy". When I read canopy i thought the whole chassis was considered but, as we found out after a rainy day, all parts in yellow are not water resistant at all. We ended up having water INTO the trailer therefore trips while raining are not possible. The only water resistant parts are the plastic cover and the two sides. Again the yellow part filters water and that's a pretty big down for us as we bought this brand, among others, specifically because of that reason (it's quite rainy in our region).
I just got this trailer yesterday and went for our first ride, so far it has been amazing!
The only issue I have is that the fabric is a bit too tight around the back and I have to have the velcro at its very loosest. I figure the fabric will relax after being assembled a bit and that I will be able to connect the velcro more for a better hold.
Otherwise this trailer is great, I also suggest if possible get the one from the warehouse deals, mine was open box and I saved a bunch. There where no issues what soever.
