My husband and I are amateur cross country skiers (classic style), and have used this kit about a half dozen times to bring our 2 1/2 year old with us on ski outings. It's fun to be able to make ski outings a family activity, and not always have to get a babysitter when we wish to go out. My husband says the trailer is a little harder to pull on skis than it is on a bike, but not too bad. We have only used this on beginner and intermediate trails, which I would highly recommend to anyone other than expert skiers. We go more slowly and take more breaks than we would without the trailer, but it is still doable and a fun/enjoyable experience.

My son loves riding in the trailer when pulled behind a bike, and seems to enjoy it in ski mode, too. However, he seems to get bored more quickly because we don't go as fast; bringing a toy helps. We have only gone out when it has been in the upper teens or warmer, and my son doesn't seem to get too cold, after 30-45 minutes, when properly bundled up.

The ski components work well with our 2014 Encore. The skis are "push button" style, same as the wheels that came with the Encore. I believe there are additional steps required to make the skis work with trailers with "quick release" wheels, which are included in the instructions that come with the ski kit. The poles that attach to the waist strap are round, not square (like the Encore's bike attachment bar), but fit in the holes, and are held in place by the pins on each side.

Overall, I would highly recommend this kit to above who wants to take their toddler on a ski or snowshoe outing, including those who are not experts.
