I am normally a Cynthia Eden fan, but this book was a flipping train wreck from the get-go. I found it extremely difficult to like or relate to the h, Eve. She was at times overly (ridiculously) emotional but then almost like some kind of automaton at others. It made no sense. I didn't find it believable at all that she got so upset when the lab was exploding and burning down around them because she just HAD to rescue all the test subjects. I understand wanting to help them and to try to rescue as many as possible, if it's a realistic thing to do (and not a suicide mission), but her behavior just made no sense. She was practically hysterical in her need to rescue these supernatural beings and it just didn't seem believable.
I liked Cain well enough, but didn't really feel like I got to know him very well. I think that more of a focus on him would have been ideal (and vastly more interesting than the annoying Eve).
I don't think I've ever made this comment before about a book, but there was honestly too much sex in this one. How so? Well, it really boils down to Cain and Eve having sex at ridiculous times and in bizarre (dangerous) situations. There's a time and place for everything, and some of their encounters just didn't make any sense. I also didn't feel any kind of real connection between the two of them, so it basically just seemed like sex for the sake of having sex. Meh.
I am extremely disappointed in this one, especially since I paid for it (it wasn't a freebie on Kindle Unlimited). I became so bored and frustrated with this book that I didn't even finish it. It was that bad.

Great read. I love reading well written paranormal romance and this book did not disappoint. It is written from a multiple pov and therefore we get to know what others are thinking / planning as well as the main characters.
Eve starts off on an undercover mission to reveal the truth behind experiments being done on paranormals by Dr Richard Wyatt. Little did she expect to be so shocked at what was happening that she literally goes into the fire to try and help save subject 13, aka Cain, as well as aid in his escape. Cain knows the monster he is and knows nothing will survive his path once he rises from the dead in a ball of fire. What he didn't anticipate was the feelings and recognition he has towards Eve once he does come back. Together they fight for revenge and to stop Dr Wyatt. But there is more to the doctor than they originally thought.
Well written, with a easy flow from start to finish. Phoenix, werewovles, vampires, and much more are this book. It has a great amount of heat - hot as well as steamy *wink* - there is action and suspense, enough of everything to keep a person interested from beginning to end.
Worth every penny spent. Well deserved 4 stars from me.

Burn for me is a sizzling hot romance that will have you twisting in your seat until the very end. Eve is one determined reporter who goes undercover at a facility in hopes of uncovering whatever secret experiments that are going on behind their doors. She’s heard the story of the devil they call subject thirteen but until she is placed before him she quickly learns what he is really capable of. Subject thirteen, aka Cain, would like nothing more than to burn the whole facility to the ground. When the intoxicating Eve approaches him, Cain will do everything in his power to have Eve and keep her safe.
This book had so many twists and turns that it kept my interest going until the last page. I admit that this book was not what I was expecting when I picked it up but I am far from disappointed. This was my first book from Cynthia Eden but it surely will not be my last!

3.5 stars - Thought that the different (burning hot) leading man was a nice PNR change of pace -

Reporter Eve goes undercover at a facility which is doing testing on paranormal and when she witnesses her first experiment, it becomes clear that Subject 13 is not a volunteer - she watches as he's shot and killed and then begins to burn before resurrecting. Eve is determined to free him and all the others kept against there will. Cain is suspicious of the female, who may be his salvation but with the way he is drawn to her, he suspects she may also be then permanent death of him.
Burn for Me has some good things going on, I like that 'what' of what Cain and Eve are - that is nicely original -and they are combustible together which is appropriate for such a fiery leading man. What worked a bit less well was the structure of the story that tended to fall into the pattern: action, get captured by the bad guy, dramatic escape, Cain dies and resurrects, then some 'fill in appropriate adjective' (angry, desperate, etc) smexy time then rinse and repeat.
To carry the series forward their is a borderline nutso vampire who is the lead in the next book with another of Caine's fiery race and there is a thread hanging for Eve 's shifter brother-of-choice Trace.
So I guess the bottom line on this one for me is that the underlying story felt kind of thin to me but I liked the idea of having Phoenixes for the paranormal element - despite the downside of having the hero constantly dying- and I would have happily traded one or more smexy times for a little chance for the leads to connect a little outside of the bedroom, but die hard Eden fans probably won't feel the same.

this is a good book but not the best ive read from this author, it is a fast paced read with good characters and plenty of hot romance and action

i love everything she writes, i have recently started to get into Cynthia Eden and have now gone back and bought everything she has written. i'm not going to tell you about individual books. rather i;m going to tell you about her writing style,,,, ah let me think ....she's brilliant, her world building is very impressive the imagination she has in each of her books are funny and sweet. rough and violent, but it works, if you want to be taken away to a whole new reality give her a shot it's worth it believe me

It was a difficult plot concept that almost but not quite came off. Mainly I think because the characters were ruled by the plot requirements and became puppets. I never could believe in the villain. Plus the early pages were too slow. Full marks for a new twist, but I don't feel the need to read on.

This author never fails to deliver, love all her books.
This story was fast moving all the way through. Action, romance and Cain the hot male I just fell in love with.
From being experimented on, to escaping, and finding love it's all the kind of book you just can't put down.
Looking forward to the next one.
