"Enlightenment Now: The Case for Reason, Science, Humanism, and Progress"
Is the world really falling apart? Is the ideal of progress obsolete? Cognitive scientist and public intellectual Steven Pinker urges us to step back from the gory headlines and prophecies of doom, and instead, follow the data: In seventy-five jaw-dropping graphs, Pinker shows that life, health, prosperity, safety, peace, knowledge, and happiness are on the rise. Amber was strong, independent, but very lonely. She loved to have fun and was trying to better her life. She wasn't looking for love, just trying to start all over again in a new city. She was very feisty and had no filter, which I loved. When she meets Caleb, she can't help but to feel very intrigued by her broody and mysterious neighbor.
Caleb was broken and had a very tragic and sad past. He was labeled a freak because he chose to keep to himself and speak only when necessary. He felt undeserving and punished himself for something that happened in the past. Once he meets Amber, he tries to avoid her. He feels undeserving of anyone's attention and is afraid that she'll hate him once she finds out about his past.
I won't talk about the plot. What I can tell you is that I loved Caleb and Amber, most of the secondary characters, the sexual tension between these two was off-the-charts. The sex was even better! There are some hard triggers in this book, but it is worth the read. It is in dual POV, some parts will have you laughing, smiling, feeling gutted, crying. When they get together, they are simply adorable and gah just so cute.
This is by far my favorite Rachael Tonks' book and one I can't wait to re-read again<3
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader copy of this book in exchange for an book review.
Really enjoyed reading Caleb and Amber's story. It had angst, a few twists, love and just a brilliantly written storyline. I even shed a few tears while reading it. And that ladies and gentlemen is a good read in my standards.
Just seriously check out this awesome read!!
