I do not usually read suspenseful stories, and as I said before, am not usually a fan of the angsty, "Oh, I love him, but even though he loves me we cannot be together because .... whatever", that is found in many booms with romantic twists. The fact that I am so caught up in this series is a testament to Hazel Hunter's prowess of pen. I am relieved that the three lovers are once again on the same page, and not shutting each other out to protect each other, or working on their own well intentioned but flawed designs. I like the tangent line of Theo and Raelynn. The idea of what importance to place on age in a society that becomes immortal is interesting. I hope we will be able to experience more of there story with them in more depth in the future. That is what is being hinted at in the foreshadowing of this tale. Cross your fingers, I'm crossing mine. Until then, enjoy "Burned", and join previous readers in "burning" with curiosity of how things will wrap up in the final chapter of this series, which comes next.
The story picks up from Book 8, where Summer has been kidnapped, and Troy and Michael are left behind in a drugged state while Summer's fathers' home is burning. Michael and Troy work together to free themselves and stop the fire. Theo comes to their aid, and they set a plan in motion to rescue Summer.
Summer awakes to find Ally Martel trying to free her, but the plan doesn't go well. The abductor, after drugging Summer, carts her off again, this time depositing her to the Templars. While being held captive, Summer learns some facts about her mother and the Emerald Tablet; the Templar begs her to release him of his misery. Shorty, Summer is rescued by Troy and Michael.
Summer, Troy, and Michael are given a vision by the Emerald Tablet, that goes back in time where Summer's mother and her two sentinels were attacked and the man, who was responsible.
Michael and Troy surprised Summer with her mother's restored home. The next morning, Summer receives a call from Lorena, who begs her to come rescue her. Summer uses the power of the Emerald Tablet and is whisked away.
