This story was good, but not great. The characters are likeable and the hero is lovable, but the writing could use a trim. The author went into too much detail about the characters' every action. (Random example: If you tell me a character gets out of a car, I'm going to assume s/he shut the door unless you make a point of telling me s/he didn't.) I skimmed in places.

The BDSM is rather light, both the sex and the general behavior of the (supposedly) D/s MCs.

This story is also weak regarding the suspense. Suspenseful plot points were set up only to kind of fizzle in the end.
*Spoiler*

The final encounter with Ben would have induced much more nail biting if he'd told Drew's brother more about his and Beth's relationship. Simple fix - Drew's brother could have admitted--after the fact--that he was in the lifestyle, too (hell, he'd make a perfect Dom), but at the time, the heroine would have been internally freaking out. So would have the reader. And Drew's text should have come before we knew if he was injured by the explosion. Telling his side beforehand totally ruined that suspense.

*end of spoiler*

Bottom line, this is a good romance with great character development and a satisfying HEA, but it reads at a meandering pace and doesn't offer up much in the way of suspense.

I loved this book. I actually got upset when I had to put down my Kindle to get back to my "real life". I like the way Ms.Hayes portrayed the Dommes in this book. They were caring, yet strong women- so many books show Dommes to be hard, almost masculine, and they love to humiliate their subs.. Don't get me wrong- if that is your kink - go for it. I was just tired that ALL Dommes were portrayed like that... it is refreshing to see a strong man willing to submit sexually to a woman. The story was good and the characters were realistic enough to make me believe in a HEA... I can't wait for the next book!

I have to say I went into this eyes wide open, I wasn't sure how I would like a male sub. I still have some trouble reading some stories with female subs, especially the stories where they let the Men control them to ridiculous ways. I can definitely get the sexual side of D/s but not the hurting someone for a thrill. So I am still a little on the border, With it being a male I wasn't sure I could get in the zone as it seemed this would make the guy seem weak. But I have to say it all fell into place. Him being a firefighter and seeing that even someone that alpha could want to be a sub. I don't like 24/7 play stories because I can't see how you can see a person for who they really are if they are having to not be themselves at least some of the time if the story allows no growth on the subs part. And I just am not a person who thinks its ok to move from sexual partner to sexual partner to play without feeling true feelings it may happen every once in a while but someone who can do it on a casual basis isn't something I want to hear about. Ms. Hayes done a good job. I think the only part I kinda got squeamish over was when she was bringing out her toys to clean for their first scene as it didn't specify if they were used toys or if she got new for Drew. Though the fact that this just happened and she hadn't gone shopping that it was mentioned didn't help. Just to think she may have used some of those items on another person was a turn off. Look forward to the others in the series.

I know I have to be more articulate than just saying Wow but if I could get away with it I would say just that. This book is wonderful. I admit I haven't read a lot of books with Femdom and now I wonder why. This book is well written and I think pays great respect to all of the worlds it dabbles in, small business, fire service, BDSM. The heart of this story was two people finding one another and themselves together. Drew is in charge of everything at work, always responsible and thoughtful and looking for a lifestyle where he doesn't always have to be in charge. Beth is brokenhearted and tentative at best when they first meet but make no mistakes she is in charge. Drew pursues her in a quiet and beautiful way, persistent because he sees something in her he needs. Outside of the bedroom their scenes together are just as scorching and touching as they are in the bedroom. I am an avid reader who likes all types of books and I didn't feel this was overtly sexual, even though there is a lot of sex. I love the world that she created and I enjoyed knowing there is more to come. I cannot wait to get to it. I was reading it on my kindle and unable to pull it up on cloud reader at work so I went ahead and downloaded the free prequel, Welcome to the Serpent's Kiss, which you should also read. I reached out to Sherri herself to let her know I enjoyed it and she's sweet as can be.

I was gifted a copy for an honest review.

This is my first Sherri Hayes book and I completely relate to her writing style.
I was drawn in and compelled to keep reading. The sex scenes were very well written and oh so hot. All of us ladies need a Drew. A manly hot fireman but yet sometimes submissive in the bedroom. Well I want one anyway.

I loved Beth because she is a Domme but she is a realistic character as well. She is a hard working independent female, but insecure in ways and protective of herself.

The dynamic of the two of them together was wonderful and I enjoyed the normal interactions between them and the normal progression of their relationship. Then you throw in the spicy BDSM and you have an amazing story.

Burning for Her Kiss is a well written enjoyable read.
