Luke just happened to be at a stoplight when out of the corner of his eye, he spots two men appearing out of an alley bantering. But he notices something a little more suspicious and harrowing. The two men had blood on them. Luke thought he should just mind his own business and keep driving, but something kept him from driving off. That little something had him parking and heading down the very alley the men came out of to make sure everything was okay when he came upon the beaten body of Aria Torres. He rushes her to the hospital and finds himself curious and wanting to care for the complete stranger.
Aria awakens in the hospital only to have no memory of who she is and how she got to the hospital. She has no idea why she was beaten so badly nor does she know who did it. No one comes to claim her at the hospital as her parents are dead, and she was a pretty introverted person with a bit of a stalker ex-boyfriend. Luke takes it upon himself to set her up in his ranch home where she can slowly recover and hopefully gain her memory back.
The story does have a good plot, but it was missing flow. It seemed rather choppy, and the characters had a tendency to get really wordy. Sometimes it seemed you were dealing with two teenagers that didn't know better rather than two adults. Granted they were both quite young, but it kind of grated on the nerves a bit. Luke's mother also was not a favorite of mine with the way she treated Aria. I could understand to a point with how rude she was because of the other ladies Luke brought around, but some of the things she said were completely uncalled for and flat out callous.
The story was fairly predictable, but it did have some merit to it. With more flow and not an over abundance of conversation, the story has great potential.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
so rich playboy happened to be at the right place at the right time because the heroine had been pulled into an alley and was beaten unconscious. uncharacteristically of him, he went out of his way to help and provide for her financially but had to be forced into really helping her as she developed amnesia from the attack and needed to be watched and cared for.
his selfish personality of wanting to help her but not really put his bachelor life on hold for her was fitting to his personality but the way some discussions and his responses went on, it seemed a bit over the top. I didn't like the heroine. it was just borderline crazy rude with her interactions and responses that it was just unrealistically immature. I didn't really get into the book til maybe halfway til the ending. lovely ending and if smoothened out a big more, the story would of been much more enjoyable
