I am definitely intrigued by this first book. A lot of unanswered question, but so far I love this book!
Yes, this is a cliffhanger.
Growing up in foster care has giving Bridget her edge and toughness.
She has career goals and "responsibility" and it will take money, a lot of money, to get to those goals and alleviate the pain of taking on the extra responsibility.
She has always taken care of herself and made her way in life.
When she receives an invitation for a meeting, where she will receive $1000, just to show up, she goes back and forth, but finally takes the meeting.
Bridget is surprised at the meeting when she comes face-to-face with Daniel, a man she had a one nightstand with, and has left her craving more of him.
At the meeting she learns she has been invited to be apart of a contest where she will receive even more money, for each day that she stays in the contest
She is not a sell out, but when the pressure of life is barring down, you may just find out at what price you can be bought.
Is the tall, dark tattooed skin, bad boy type.
Daniel shares a past with Bridget that only he knows about.
He knows Bridget is not the right type for this contest and that is what is hoping for, because he doe not wants her to win. He want to punish her and break her and this contest will certainly do that.
At least, that is what he wanted until he came face to face with her and then had a taste of her. Now he is torn between punishing and protecting her.
Maybe it will be Daniel who is the broken one in the end.
I love Bridget's snarking, quick wit, and take no bull sh*t attitude!!
Bridget finds herself presented with an offer she can't refuse and seems pretty harmless even though everything in her tells her to run. This book ends, not with a cliffhanger, but the story is just getting started. So it's a bit frustrating knowing I have to wait to find out what's going to happen.
It took me longer to finish this book than any other books by this author. I can't really decide whether I like this book and that makes me the odd reader since everyone seems to be liking it.
Bridget is in a bind and needs money to help out her family. Working various jobs including a phone sex operator who led her to meet Alexander/Daniel. Daniel is your typical alpha male who gets what he wants and decides when he wants to take it. Bridget got an invitation to so e sort of contest that will make her earn money she needs to help out her family and all she has to do is stay at a mansion and do what everybody else does or surpass it to win.
I think that's where I kind of got lost. I didn't get why the people needs to have sex with everyone to win anything and why one person is being singled out when he already had sex with the female character? Don't get me wrong, I like sex in a book but in this one, I felt tha its a bit too much being the center of the storu. It didn't really get interesting for me until the last two chapters. And its a cliffhanger on top of that too. I don't mind cliffhangers but I kinf of what it not to be just towards the end of the story, I kind of wanted the whole story to keep me guessing from the beginning and make me want to read the next one right away.
Like I said I may be the odd one on this book but I think I'm going to think for a day or two before diving into the next story. It took me days to finish this book because it's not grabbing my interest enough to finish it right away, and in turn, it's not making me want to read the next one in a hurry as well.
