After reading three of Chill’s stories back to back to back, I have a frim feeling for Detective Burnside and his environment. I liked the reprisal of the Hard-Boiled Detective, and needed constant reminder that he was not Humphrey Bogart. Casting Burnside as a former Football safety is clever and allows him to deal with his foes as he deems proper. Although I will take a break, I am certain I will revisit David Chill and his protagonist.
Lots of suspense, plenty of good guys and bad guys and, in some cases, almost impossible to determine which is which. Not too gory and just enough romance to keep it intriguing. Burnside is an interesting, easy to like character, so you will be rooting for him early on in the story. Well written and USC fans will love it.
These are great stories, and definitely worth the read. I wasn't expecting much..(i don't know why!) He's an ex-football player/Cop turned private eye....The added humor is great as well. Really enjoyed these!
