By Barbara A. Martin
Shades of Christie, is it even possible! Have we now a “new” Partners in Crime? If you are have wondered why Agatha only wrote four stories about Tommy and Tuppence. She was just laying the ground work for Paul and Marge.
I have often wondered when someone would take up the romance and adventure of Tommy and Tuppence, for Agatha’s series was just too short. Let’s hope Barbara Martin will write another detective/mystery featuring Paul and Marge as the new Partners in Crime. Not just one more, but many more to add to the “husband and wife” category of the genre.

During the investigation Marge works closely with FBI agent Paul Froman. While trying to find the ‘disappearing’ doctor, many bodies are found. Tensions run high for all agencies involved as moles are being discovered. Marriages are broken, and made. Families are threatened. Marge and Paul don’t know who they can trust. From long time con artist working closely with the investigation to the straight up cops.
Marge and Paul spend most of this book avoiding their feelings for each other. But come on, we all know they are perfect for each other and should just suck it up and jump! Well, the end just made me smile. Thankfully they come to their senses. With all the love in this book, its hard to believe a murder investigation was going one. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t too much romance. I think there was a perfect mix of the two.
This is a well written and thought out suspense novel. Every page has new twist and kept me guessing the whole time. Barbara Martin is now added to my ‘must read’ list. Starting with Bodies Everywhere: Short Stories of Mystery & Murder (Bodies Everywhere Series Book 1). Then the rest will follow shortly.
I received a complimentary copy of this book via the author through ChoosyBookworm in exchange for an honest review. These thought and opinions are all mine.
I found the book entertaining and compelling. I read it from cover to cover in on sitting, not wanting to put it down. The characters were likeable and the plot twisting enough to maintain I forest, without giving anything away. I hope this writer will write a follow-up to this book, as I would quickly buy and read it. I recommend this book most heartily!!
Marge Hampton is the administrator of the Mountain Springs Medical Center and her best friend, Abby Adamson is the Director of Nursing. Dr Bill Mackay is the local medical examiner. They and two more friends, one of which is a reporter, consider themselves amateur sleuths. When burnt bodies start showing up in the forests around their town and Special Agent Paul Froman comes to town, it piques their interest and they decide it's time to have a meeting of the Murder Club. Marge finds evidence that a prominent doctor is stealing drugs from the hospital and the case gets bigger and more dangerous as connections are found. There is some romance and a whole lot of exciting action. The connections stretch from North Carolina to Reno and Vegas. There is a mole and a shoot-out and a wedding and a surprise ending.
This book was delightful. I look forward to more of Marge and Paul and the Murder Club.
