Directions: After cleansing your face, place a small amount of citrus facial scrub in your hand and mix with a drop or two of water. Gently massage the scrub in a circular motion over forehead, cheeks, nose and chin (avoid the delicate eye area). Rinse and follow with toner, then moisturize. Do not add water directly to the jar.

This is one of the best face scrubs overall and the best one offered by Burt's Bees. It does smell like a blend of pumpkin pie spices and citrus but everyone in our family loves it! I laughed at the reviews that said it was too pasty or hard because although the jar is small it is filled with a more concentrated paste that, when some is scooped out and mixed with a few drops of water becomes a more spreadable product - AND THE DIRECTIONS TELL YOU THAT IF YOU READ THEM.
We use a small plastic spatula to scoop into the palm of the hand and mix just a few drops in to form a spreadable paste. Then we apply to the face like a mask and walk around for 10-15 minutes smelling the yummy citrus spice bouquet and then either remove with a moist wash cloth or can be done right before a shower and can be scrubed off in the shower. Leaves skin smooth and soft and ready to soak up whatever fabulous moisturizer you have waiting!
My only beef is that I prefer products do not come in jars due to a higher cross contamination potential but due to the thick paste it probably makes more sense, but then, probably most people do not have skin care spatulas handy like we did so I bet a lot of people are dipping their germy fingers right into the jar. A small plastic scooper added to the box would be a plus.
About 10 years ago, i used this scrub with the Burts Bees tomato face soap (which was discontinued) and tomato toner and my skin looked great. Back then, this scrub only cost about $8. I don't know if the formula has chanhe'd since then, or if the jar I got was just old, but this is not the same product I used to enjoy.
I'm deeply disappointed. I feel ripped off after spending $23 on a subpar face scrub that will probably last me a month, at most.
I used to love Burts Bees products, but this will probably be the last thing I buy from them.
Great scrub! It does what it promises: scrubs away dirt, and cleanses well, not to mention your face feels baby smooth after rinsing it off. Also, it smells good, like oranges, and because you only need a little every time you use, it will last forever. I've been using it on and off for two months now, and have made a very shallow hole in the top. I really have no complaints about this one, recommend it for those who love Burt's Bees and are looking for a good scrub, or anyone honestly. Works better than most scrubs that cost 2x the price, definitely worth the money.
I ordered this Burt's Bees Citrus Scrub years ago and used it several times with disappointment! The texture is grimy and greasy and looks like wet dirt! I am not fond of its scent at all either and it did absolutely nothing to clean my skin. The process is messy as the wet scrub just cakes and falls all over the place! Definitely wasn't what I expected and I will never and have never bought this product again!
I understood that it was a paste in a jar when I bought the product. I have used products like this before, but this scrub is much drier, denser, and more difficult to get out of the jar than other similar face scrubs. I don't particularly care for the scent (it does NOT smell like cinnamon, orange peel or pumpkin pie like I was expecting). It leaves a waxy residue on my face. "Gentle" scrub is right, I wouldn't really consider it an exfoliant. It was a good price, but I'm underwhelmed and won't be buying it again.
It's a natural product so the texture is a bit dry and it takes a few tries to get it right. I thoroughly wet my face first, then take a bit of mixture - about a quarter sized amount - and put that in the palm of my hands with just a bit of water, adding more until I get a paste I can use to scrub my face with. It smells nice, has not nasty stuff in it and is wonderful for my skin.
I would like to thank Kandee Johnson for this purchase because she inspired me to buy it :) Took very long for this product to get here but once it did it was packaged well. I used it for the first time last night and I think it will take me awhile to get used to it. You are supposed to put a little bit in your hand and then add 2 drops of water. I did that and it just seems like you need to do something else; it's kinda hard to apply to your face. I'm pretty positive that this scrub will work wonderfully though :)
