Hunter is a gruff pro hockey player who damages his reputation after a drunken comment about his new team and earning the hate of the entire team fan base. So when he is chosen as the husband for Tallie he has little choice but to agree if he has any hope of turning things around.
When I started to read it I immediately became frustrated. It's written in first person which I don't mind at all but my issue was that I wanted more dialogue between the characters. I wanted to experience more of the interaction between Tallie and all of the people in her life but instead was told about it. It started a little weak and I'm not a fan of Hockey anyway so I didn't hold out much hope of getting into it. That was until I looked at the time and it was nearly two in the morning. I could not put my kindle down and was thoroughly sucked into this story. When I woke up the following morning I couldn't wait to start reading again and couldn't switch my kindle on fast enough.
Even though I wanted more dialogue between Tallie and Hunter the chemistry between them was fantastic and there were a few twists I didn't expect.
I haven't read anything by this author before but I will definitely read the rest of this series and check out what other books she had to offer.
8 out of 10 and 2 flames for heat.

I am always counting down the days until the next release when it comes to Catherine's books.
I love boos with something extra and 'Bury the Hatchet' gave me that. Its not a book that focuses on the only on the sport or the player lifestyle. The book mainly focuses on Tallie and Hunter as individuals and as a couple.
Tallie and Hunter were forced to get married as a publicity stunt, a move that should have improved their public image. What started out as a temporary arrangement soon developed into something deeper.
Catherine Gayle wrote a very emotional book .I loved seeing the connection form and grow between Tallie and Hunter. They were strangers who found each other without meaning to.
The book is not only angsty but also steamy. Tallie discovering and exploring her sexuality was well done and helped develop the connection between her and Hunter and her growth as a character.
I found the book a very satisfying read. The author knows how to develop the relationship as well as the story, include past and loved characters and root for imperfect people.
A very good beginning to a new series.
Hunter was previously with the Portland Storm and he is not too excited to have been traded to Oklahoma. He starts off on the wrong foot and ends up agreeing to pretend to marry a disgraced beauty queen. This farce is supposed to save both their faces with the public.
Hunter is such a great guy deep down, he just can't find it in himself to be cold and mean to Tallie. Oh, and don't forget, he is tall and built and HOT! Tallie is a bit vapish in the beginning--like a typical beauty queen--and probably deserved some of Hunter's comments. She started to grow on my as the book went on. She had been so sheltered in her life and I was glad to see her take some initiative and come out of her shell. I was happy to see that the two of them decided to say screw the world, we are dong our own thing anyway.
I liked meeting the owners and the Tulsa Thunderbird team. The swear jar scene is priceless! As always, Ms. Gayle can write a great story. So happy to be going on this new adventure with her!
