About the authors
Angela H. Dale writes picture books for children and for the former children who read to them. BUS STOP is her debut picture book.
Praise for BUS STOP:
"Simple, snowy fun with a vocabulary-building boost.... Young fans of Ezra Jack Keats’ The Snowy Day (1962) will find this an enjoyable companion book, and this title will likely see heavy rotation in libraries during the colder months of the year." - Kirkus Reviews
"Hinting visually at The Snowy Day, Watkins’s spare mixed-media illustrations capture the children’s evident glee as snowflakes fill the air and smudgy white paints the sidewalks. The playful moments work hand-in-hand with Dale’s energetic poetry as the book builds to the expected but no less jubilant explanation for the missing bus." - Publishers Weekly
Lala Watkins is an author-illustrator & designer who lives in sunny Florida (she's in a long-term relationship with the sun, and why ruin that?) and is a self-proclaimed connoisseur of good vibes. Since graduating with a BFA in Graphic Design and Interactive Communications from Ringling College of Art & Design, she has worked as a product designer, product developer, Illustrator, and graphic designer at Sanrio, Paper Culture, and Cartoon Network.
She's a pro at doing what makes her heart emote, the heart-eyed emoji, and encourages others to do the same. Lala is a BIG sweets enthusiast and is an uncompromising nap queen. If she had to describe her work, she would say, "it's like a summer pool party, and everyone's invited!" Her dream is to add more goodness and playful vibes to the world; another is to eat ice cream with the people she likes in different places. Here's to enjoying more of this pool party she creates in this part of the universe. Cheers!

As they arrive one by one, each child busies herself or himself with interesting things as the wait for the bus’s arrival increases. The story kept me guessing and the ending, which is my favorite part, is wonderful!
This book brought back memories of when I was at the bus stop waiting for the school bus to arrive! Reliving those memories was an unexpected experience and one that I deeply appreciate.
The illustrations compliment the author’s writing style; the use of diversity, equity, and inclusion is a wonderful bonus!
I give this book five stars.
