Bought for whale watching from the shore of the ocean

We bought these for our son to use at his ocean front apartment for whale watching. We were looking for a wide field of vision and easy adjustment for distance, and these work well for both. The magnification was less than we expected for the power, but since we are looking at wildlife on the surface of a very large ocean, it may that what we are looking at may be further away than we think. These binoculars would be a bit heavy to carry out in the field. One big negative is that the eye pieces do not adjust closely enough together to accommodate people whose eyes are at all close together, so it would be a good idea to try them to make sure that they will work using both eyes.

Having the Bushnell 8x42 legacy model to compare it to, I wanted a little more zoom and light gathering ability for astronomy. I can tell you that the legacy has better optics and imagery. These tend to have flares at dawn and dusk from internal reflections; in full sunlight and astronomy conditions you don't notice it. I'd probably have gotten the 10x50 legacy model instead, but these work well and were cheap. The focusing system is fast and accurate, and does focus better than the legacy models I have.

They worked well for a year then trying to focus both objectives to work together was impossible. You could focus individual objectives however you can get them to view object(s) as a unit. Double vision is not good. I would not spend your money of these. Disappointed with Bushnell. Thought their quality control would be much better.

I bought a 10 x 50mm. I tested it out and I can see the small signs such as no parking but couldn't see the rest of the words under it without a steady view. (The sign was 450 feet away from me). Over all I'm pleased with the binoculars. People, cars, birds can be seen clearly. I was hesitant of getting the 12 x 50 since I noticed steady view was a complaint. I'm happy with my purchase and would purchase a smaller version of it.

This worked great on our safari--We were able to clearly see birds and mammals in trees or hiding in the bush. They were quite heavy, but since we were mostly sitting in land rovers, that wasn't a problem. One of the lenses did get condensation inside when we got soaked at Victoria Falls, although it later evaporated without any intervention from me--I'd just recommend covering the lenses with the included lens caps when wet. For the price, we thought these were great.

High on function, questionable durability

These binocs worked really well. I used them at the shooting range and it was easy to spot bullet impacts out to 200 yards or so. Clear optics and easy to focus.

The downside is the durability. My 5-year-old dropped them onto concrete, probably about an 18" drop. They were facing down, and the impact was on the rubberized portion of one objective barrel only. When I picked them up, the left and right images no longer aligned so I sent them back for repair ($10 S&H).

Bushnell responded that due to a bent objective barrel and prism damage, they were a total loss. Really? From an 18" drop? To Bushnell's credit they offered to sell a replacement at only $38. I passed and bought the Legacy version with zoom.

Another disadvantage is the flimsy cloth case that it comes with. You should probably upgrade, esp given the durability questions.

Easy to focus, wide-angle make it easy to see even if you're new to binoculars

I've tried using professional-grade binoculars before, and I always struggle with the focus and then I keep losing things in the visual field because the field is narrow.

I love these binoculars because they have a very wide visual field--once you view something, you can track it easily as it moves.

I bought it for a beach vacation, so I could sit on the porch and watch the boats, hang gliders, and swimmers on the ocean. These binoculars were perfect for that. I imagine that they would be good for following any fast-moving object, such as at a ball game or for birding.

The lens quality was excellent--far better than I expected for the price.

I highly recommend these binoculars to anyone who's been frustrated by binoculars in the past.

I was very disappointed when I tried out these binoculars this morning. The technical specs said that the close focussing distance was 20 feet/6 metres. Mine wouldn't focus closer than 28-30 metres!. I have returned them for a refund and will choose a different brand next time. Shame, I always thought that Bushnell was a reliable company, but their Chinese manufacturing arm needs a lesson in quality control!

Después de investigar mucho, me decidí a comprar estos binoculares, los compré con el objetivo de empezar a realizar astronomía y la verdad es que no me han decepcionando nada, la luna se ve hermosa y se pueden ver muchas más estrellas en el firmamento que a simple vista, se ven muy elegantes y muy resistentes, con materiales de muy buena calidad, estan un poco pesados y por ende pueden llegar a cansar.

Tomen en cuenta que estos binoculares son de aumento fijo, no tienen zoom.

Dieses Frnglas wollte ich eigentlich als leichtere Alternative zum Olympus 10 x 50 haben, da es bei langen Strecken zu Fuß ja doch schon auf 100 Gramm mehr oder weniger ankommt, wenn man das Fernglas umhängen hat. Nun, das Powerview 10x50 war eine echte Enttäuschung, zum Einen das Gewicht, es wiegt tatsächlich fast genauso viel wie das Olympus, nämlich 839 Gramm und nicht knapp über 700 g, wie angegeben und ist sehr schlecht verarbeitet. Hier war an einem Glas en sehr breiter Spalt in der Gummierung, am anderen Glas sah es hingegen vernünftig aus. Die Sicht war ok, aber auch nicht besser, als beim Olympus. Keine Empfehlung.
