About the Author
BusiBUZZ, AUTHOR BIO Author Jay “Randy” Gordon is what those in the marketing, entertainment, and sports business call “a-Doer.” For 15 years, Randy has read and authored marketing documents, attended many conferences, led meetings, and conversed with many people in person and over-the-phone to record business buzzwords and catchphrases during his B-school days and while working at some of America’s top companies, including The Coca-Cola Company, Sony Computer Entertainment America, Universal McCann, and Ubisoft Entertainment. He brings to the table a unique and humorous look at the world of business jargon, catchphrases in the workplace, and general mucky-muck speak. He is from Birmingham, AL and resides in Marin County, CA just outside of San Francisco. J. Randy Gordon most recently worked for experiential marketing agency ignition, Inc. on Sony Pictures Digital business (and the Ford-sponsored Fusion Flash Concerts Summer music concert series), and he has consulted in the past for Adscape Media, GameLive Events, Telltale Games, and Red Bull’s Ad Agency of Record Kastner & Partners. He has sold pre-movie trailer cinema advertising space to videogame companies and their ad agencies (for then Regal Entertainment’s Group’s Regal CineMedia), and he served for over two years as Vice President of Marketing Services for Ubi Soft Entertainment, a French-based developer and publisher of PC and videogames. In a working capacity, Randy brings proven process and a wealth of creativity and contacts (from both sports and entertainment). He operates under a unique style of sales-driving thoughts, big ideas with a promotional / PR slant, a keen sense of how to initiate and leverage relationships with other marketers, and a refreshing leadership role that fosters team play where he empowers those with whom he works to get things done.
