I also appreciated the advice on what the authors called “monetization,” essentially bringing us down to earth, as in: “don’t quit your day job, thinking you’re about to produce the next Serial.”
But the biggest value to me was this: I thought, thanks for all this info, but speaking of monetization, can you make any money via podcasting? What can you charge clients for these services? I figured the book would leave me hanging, but as I kept reading Donna and Steve delivered - with actual descriptions of podcast production services, templates for proposal content and even recommended fees for various levels of consulting and podcast production. That alone is what makes this book so useful.
If you’re considering launching a podcast as a content marketing tactic to increase awareness and preference for your brand, this is a good book to help you understand the tremendous opportunities that podcasting can offer.
This book does not go into all the technical details of creating a podcast. And it’s not full of podcasting snake oil about how podcasting will make you millions overnight. Instead, it explains the business side of podcasting such as how to position your expertise through podcasting, how to monetize a podcast, what not to do on a podcast and much more.
The book also includes lots of podcasting case studies, appendices, and recommended tools, tips, and tactics. It’s great for new podcasters, but even an experienced podcaster can learn from the book. I did.
The most successful podcasts, like any kind of content marketing, have a solid underlying business strategy. This book will help you with that.

The nice things about this book is that it opens your eyes to many practical tips that you can easily implement today that can transform your business and our podcast.
The authors bring a ton of experience to what they write and what you get in this book is a wide-array of resources, hints and tips that really allow you to see more and more ways in which you can creat a life and a lifestyle around your interest in podcasting.
So as you can see, this book is not all about the nuts and bolts about starting a podcast, though you get some of this, but instead it goes deeper and allows you to explore new areas that will let you consider ways in which you can monetize and move your podcast to a new level.
This is a great read!
