The Butler originally appeared as a novella in the anthology, Cruising, released in 2022. This update is the full length novel with twice the content and an epilogue conclusion not to be missed.

Michael Robert is having an amazing year in books. The Butler is the 4th release this year and I can't wait to hear what else he has coming out. At least one more in the Packing anthology releasing later this year. Congratulations Michael on an awesome year!🎉❤

This story was previously in the book Cruising an MM Anthology in which I missed out on but am so happy to be getting the full expanded version now.

The two mc's, Lincoln (aka Linc) and Deklyn (aka Dek), really were having a rough time in the beginning. Both going through the heartbreak of being dumped by their long time love interests.

Dek had recently finished college but due to his breakup was suffering from low self-esteem and insecurities so he was just barely getting by. Him getting an offer to work on a billionare's yacht was exactly what he needed to figure out his next steps in life. Linc's breakup was a little fresher and he just wanted to hideaway on his yacht, recouperate, and get himself back together. 

Once these two met aboard Linc's yacht Action there was an instant connection and boy did the sparks fly.

"There were half a dozen or more other attractive gay men on the receiving line but none of them had "that thing". Deklyn had "that thing", and he had it in spades."

You all know what "that thing" can do to you, right? It can make you lose your mind and do all sorts of things.😜 And that's exactly what happened with these two. Even though they both knew they shouldn't, they jumped into a secret two week rendezvous of sex and falling head over heels for each other. But nothing is ever easy in love and matters of the heart especially when there are insecurities due to previous choices and circumstances.

Anyways, I don't want to give away the ending or how they get to their wonderful HEA...you're going to need to read it for that. Just know that you'll be getting a classic Michael Robert story with great characters you'll fall in love with, a wonderful storyline, and plenty of steam ... all to keep you turning the pages!!

Highly recommend especially for an amazing summer read!!

This is a very enjoyable book about two men who have been deeply hurt by previous relationships. Still healing, they meet each other before they are fully ready to take a chance again. Deklyn is a 21 year old student who has recently been dumped by his college professor, who he loved and with whom he imagined a future. Replaced abruptly by an 18 year old, he is now lost with his life on auto-pilot. Broke, he accepts a lucrative job offered by his friend to work on a yacht for two weeks. When he arrives, he finds out that he will be serving as a butler, despite no experience.

Linc is a billionaire movie studio owner who has been jilted by his farm-boy lover, a man he expected to have long-term. Worst of all, the lover left him for his good friend, causing double the pain. Now, he escaping to his yacht to heal his broken heart. When he meets his new replacement butler, the attraction is immediate. When they agree to several weeks of a passionate, no-strings affair, neither expects the pain of parting. Can these two find a future with miscommunications, unspoken feelings, and financial disparities? This book has hurt, passion, hope, and a beautiful, hard-earned love.

Michael Robert has written MM love story which is so authentic and again unique in his own way. When you have read his books then you know. :)
This book starts with a big wake-up call for Deklyn Dalton who studies information technology and is in love with his professor. Three years of being in a relationship, which he thought was mutual, ends abruptly. One year later he finds himself broke and taking jobs which is not his profession. One of his jobs is to work on a yacht, which belongs to Billionaire Lincoln Carrington.

Lincoln's life is also at the point where he is taking a vacation on his own. He was betrayed by his lover and friend. He takes it hard and still hurting from heartbreak after many months.
Life has a surprise for both of them. Deklyn has to take up the position of a personal butler for Lincoln on this journey. The sparks fly when they meet. Even though they are attracted to each other, Deklyn tries to be professional and not give any chance to get fired. Lincoln sees in him depth and honesty which is rare in his world. I loved how they interacted with each other and both of them developed as people.

I felt for Deklyn and I wanted to hug him. To tell him that he is such an amazing young man and that life will get better. They both wanted the love that lasts. Their journey to explore and find love is complicated. During those two weeks on the yacht, a lot is happening between them. They find that they can be open with each other, at a level where they have not been before. It is a genuine story where the chemistry between these two seems so real that I could feel it.

There is also another butler in this story and you will love him. He has his own role to play in Lincoln and Deklyn's story.

Every book Michael Robert writes is unique and amazing, and so much more. He has become one of my favorite writers. I love his writing style and I highly recommend reading his books. 💙💙💙💙💙

Running away from a surprise breakup in his 3 year relationship, with his college Professor and too many hook-ups afterwards, 22 year old Deklyn takes a job on a luxury yacht as a deckhand.

Drowning in student debt, his friend Starr offered him the chance to earn huge money for a two week stint on board the ship that she managed for her employer, Lincoln Carrington, CEO of the biggest Hollywood Studio, plus many other companies he acquired as legacies from his parents.

Starr has Informed him of a sudden change in plan. Mr Carrington’s long serving Butler doesn’t have ‘sea legs’ so Deklyn will have to take on that role for the two weeks their boss is on board. The pay will double, plus a huge bonus at end of trip. Desperate for extra cash to pay his overdue rent and student loans he reluctantly agrees.

Given a luxurious cabin next to Lincoln’s so he can be at his beck and call, Deklyn is enjoying his upgrade. He is also acutely aware of his Boss especially when he asks him to select his clothing for the day and promptly strips naked in front of him to change into them. 🥵

But then Deklyn is someone really special, very handsome, super clever and intelligent, kind hearted. It takes a security emergency to wake Lincoln up to just how intelligent Deklyn is. Not someone to be treated as an escort and cash offered for every kindness and effort to be helpful.

But then Lincoln goes and shatters whatever was growing between them. Then he leave the yacht before the two weeks is up, leaving Deklyn shattered.

Both are looking for the same thing in their lives, both have been hurt recently, but they are afraid to trust again.

It was weird how quickly Lincoln and Deklyn, both broken-hearted men were able to form such an ‘insta’ connection. But Michael Robert manages to handle the growing respect and genuine affection that they have for each other and makes it feel much more.

Yep, each book I read by Michael Robert has me go quickly looking for the next one from his pen or laptop.

This extended version of the previously included in the anthology Cruising novella THE BUTLER gives us a much needed detailed back story on Deck and oh my god. I loved this boy the first time around, but now he is just so much more. His strength and resilience in the face of life throwing lemons and curved balls galore was amazing. Deck is completely devoid of pride, wasting no time to tackle his new circumstances while at the same time allowing himself to mourn the loss of love he had imagined was big in a forever kind of way. As a result,he barely keeps his head above water - overdue bills, excruciating student loans, zero serious work prospects, drifting from meaningless hook up to the next feeling hardly anything at all.
Well, lucky for him,Linc glides into his life on a luxurious yacht and could solve all his problems with the snap of his chequebook, alas it's not that simple.
Both men have been hurt deeply and no matter how much their undeniable attraction binds them in some of the hottest intimate scenes ever written by Michael Robert, doubt holds them back.
They dance around each other, too scared to take the chance on love again.
Lincoln's thick head should get its own yacht - that's how stubborn he is and acted like a child every time something about Deck seemed too good to be true. And here comes the real lesson, one that Deck tried desperately to teach Linc and himself - those who hurt us, broke our heart, took our love and trust, dishonouring the way we bound ourselves to them, they don't get to determine how we treat the next person our heart chooses to beat for. Deklyn was having a relationship with professor Thomas Keil. Deklyn was Thomas’s assistant and then he wasnt ending it all.
Deklyn 22 yrs was broke but had a job as a butler onboard Action boat with Mr Lincoln as his boss.
Lincoln 40 yrs was going broke paying his ex’s when theyd spilt up looking for his forever boy.
A great start with an insta connection between them both. The ship’s rule was never have relations with the crew or VIPs onboard.
A rebound fling or not, Deklyn needed the job for the next 2 weeks although itd test their boundaries a lot. Yeah them boundaries are meant to be broken. I liked the start of the story but its wasn’t until the halfway point that things change for me and I ended up loving it.
Smoking hot sexy scenes although there was no protection or health talks. A boss and employee story that Deklyn needed the job and couldn’t afford to be fired which sounded a lot throughout the book. There was plots in this that could gone further but was cut short ie, hacking scene. Overall a hot book and connection between them. Written with dual povs per chapter for a HEA ending.
