I use this daily for toast and eggs, with cold butter right from the fridge.
Pros:
* Cold butter is fresher. Fresher tastes better. Cold butter doesn't spread easily.. this makes it easy.
* Cold butter on rolls or bread + hot soup = fantastic. No shredded bread when spreading butter this way.
* Don't dirty a knife - If the butter is *just* cold enough, it comes out in a flat, consistent ribbon instead of a curly ribbon. You can handle that butter strip with your bare hands for a few seconds.. I usually wait for my toast to pop, then churn out a couple strips and place them on the hot toast. Toast melts butter, butter soaks in a bit, and it's awesome. I also use it on my single-egg frying pans.. I churn out a little piece and throw it in the pan to melt just before I put the egg in. Best way to make eggs and toast, imo.
* Price - not bad.
Cons:
* If the butter is too cold, the plastic screw-on piece will have too much pressure and pop out when you try to turn it.. very annoying. Seems that lengthening that screw-top lid a bit would have solved the problem engineering-wise, or add some kind of clamping+locking mechanism. I usually just leave it sitting next to the toaster while cooking, and that oddly solves the problem.. there's also a steel butter mill for sale online for $99.. I've considered that alternative, but the commercial was disgusting, and I don't want to give that creepy couple any money.
* Too long for many fridges. (I'd just cut the butter down and refill more frequently.. I like it that much)

It doesn't fit the Kirkland (Costco) butter. Ugh. :(It works okay- a bit hard to rotate. An extendable handle to rotate would be better.Overall it works. I really just hate that I have to cut the sides of a new butter bar to make it fit. 🙄
