Michael feels that Aaron has an meaning in his life and Aaron also knows something important is happening he can't quite understand. The attraction flares between them. To protect their cover they share a precious few minutes together but know it can't happen again.
How they get to the place where they can be together makes for an interesting story. Their fate is woven with intrigue and action creating the tale of the Butterfly Assassin.
I really liked seeing another pack, and how they interact with others and with different problems than the Regent's Hill pack does. Aaron, especially, I found a very interesting character. He's the first main shifter who was born human and changed before the beginning of the book. I wish we had gotten more details of his past, but that would be more asking for a cherry on top of a sundae.
In this book we get complex characters in an interesting social situation, crime and excitement mixed with cuteness and fluff, with added sexy times for flavor, and all that with a bit of fantasy in the shape of shifters and magic.
By the way, I loved what Annabelle Jacobs did with the title. I gasped out loud when I found what it was. If you want to find where it comes from, read the book, I bet you won't regret it ;)
This book is about Aaron and Michael. They were both very fleshed out characters and I loved being able to get to know them on a deeper level. Aaron is a underground fighter and is brought to the attention of Michael as the last guy he fought ends up dead by shifter claws. Michael is investigating these deaths that are link to the underground fighting world, so he gets Aaron yo work undercover for him.
There is some suspense and this book was very well written and very engaging, keeping you completely hooked from the start. I did however feel that the romance took a backseat and while I.lived the story as is I do wish that could have gotten more page time. Other than that I can honestly say that this book was so freaking awesome and I can't wait to read more from this author. I definitely recommend reading this you will not regret it!
Expertly written, and very exciting until the very end, with a suprising twist.
The romance, which I had expected to be at the heart of the story, at times felt a bit like an afterthought. That was a little disappointing, because I went into it with different expectations.
The MC's, Aaron and Michael, are both wonderful and interesting characters with great chemistry and longing between them. I would have loved it if they had been able to spend more time together on page to get to know each other and fall in love. Now it felt a bit rushed.
It was a lot of fun, though, to revisit the shifter world that Annabelle Jacobs created with her Regent Park Pack series. We get introduced to a whole new cast of characters, paving the way for other great stories to come.
I do hope that the focus will shift again to the love story aspect, but that's a matter of personal preference, of course.
I'm looking forward to more!
