Had high hopes for this new "quality" line of clothing from Amazon. Especially after the dude that runs the Dappered site sang praises for this line of shirts.
However, seeing as the Dappered guy gets paid if you follow the web link to any sites and buy stuff, I was skeptical of his review.
Shirt is quite thin. Most of my dress shirts are Brooks Brothers, Lands End, Charles Tyrwhitt, or Nordstroms. The material of this shirt feels very thin like a discount brand one would buy at Ross or Marshalls.
The length of the shirt seems a little short. You can take this one of two ways: If you wear your shirts casually untucked it looks OK as it doesn't appear like you are wearing a dress. However, if you are tucking this shirt in during the work day you'll find yourself constantly having to re-tuck it in as it noticeably shorter than my other dress shirts.
Color and gingham pattern is good. No complaints there. Just overall, this doesn't seem to be a good value at $50. I typically get my dress shirts on sale for $25-40 and they are of considerable better quality than this one.
I don't like the stripes but I would love to have more versatile and understated tatersol or plaid choices. My recommendation for a next (fourth) color/pattern choice is to have something like the blue plaid but in neutral black/grey (or small black gingham like the one already offered in the button down collar version of this shirt Buttoned Down Men's Non-Iron Slim-Fit Button-Collar Dress Shirt, Black Small Gingham, 14.5" Neck 32" Sleeve).
Great value at this price point of under $50; have not seen anything that comes close in terms of fit, craftsmanship and cloth. Highly recommended!
Interestingly, this is the second of these shirts that I ordered form Amazon; last week I ordered a different color but accidentally ordered a fitted, instead of slim. That shirt was made of a completely different material! It still said 100% Supima Cotton, but it felt like a cheap flannel shirt, and it had absolutely no structure or "crispness" to it. When I buttoned all but the top button, the whole thing laid open wide a la the 80's. There was no way it could be called a "dress shirt." The one I am reviewing here is much more crisp and has just enough structure to be called a dress shirt. My issue is that if I order another one, which type will they send me?
The construction is great. All of the buttons were secure, and all of the seams were neatly sewn. The fabric has a really nice feel and is about a medium weight. I ordered the pink/blue geo pattern, and it's beautiful. It's a steal for this price, honestly. The quality is as good as or better than Bonobos, and definitely better than a lot of the other online shirt retailers.
BUT it's really short for a dress shirt and won't stay tucked in. I'm 6'3" and ordered a 36 sleeve which usually also includes a longer length shirt, but this one doesn't seem to.
Unfortunately this makes the shirt unwearable and a waste of money.
Beware if you plan to tuck it in and wear as a dress shirt. I guess it would be ok if you wore it untucked, but it doesn't look like that's the intent.
For the seller - please let me know if you add a longer length shirt for tucking in and I would buy more!
