I enjoyed getting to know this group of people. My daughter read the first five books and was unable to read this one so I stepped in and though I know I missed some back story, (which I did discuss with my daughter) I felt comfortable enough to continue on with this 5th book. And as author Havig's prowess as an author shows, I was quickly caught up in the story.
The history around the camera, crimes scenes, etc. (no spoilers), was rather intriquing and a little bit shocking as well.
Russell quickly put me in the mind of Mr. Knightly. Such a proper young man who really doesn't let his feelings rule him, yet he keeps Madeline grounded and as safe as he can. I do hope there is more to this series. I would like to see what happens in their future acquaintance. Hopefully some kissing!
I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
This novel had a different type of plot than the ones previously. A wonderful something in this book was that the other characters seem to have finally realized that Maddie's sleuthing abilities were a gift, not a whim, and they were necessary to solve a mystery and protect innocent people that they cared about.
Please note that Havig writes this novel in a way that someone new to the series could pick it up and enjoy it, so readers of historical fiction and mysteries will be sure to appreciate it.
I received a copy of this book from the author, through Celebrate Lit, for review purposes. The thoughts expressed here are my own.
I feel in love with the Madeline character in book one. She is rather precocious and a free spirit. She comes and goes as she pleases, mostly, and only has the best of intentions when she takes part in moments of investigation. At this moment, I cannot recall a character like her.
Byrd’s Eye View starts with a wedding, but not Madeline’s (I won’t tell you who’s). She is dealing with so much grief and hurt that I’m not quite sure what road it will leader her down. She is up to her match-maker ways, but now the one person left to be her voice of reason is rather upset and disappointed with her.
This gripping tale of Madeline’s exploits in detective work that will leave you turning pages after page.
*I was given a copy of this book from the publisher through CelebrateLit Publicity. The views are entirely my own and a favorable review is not required.
I am giving Byrd’s Eye View four and a half stars. I am looking forward to read the other books from the Meddlin Madelibe Mysteries series. I recommend this one to readers who enjoy fun and entertaining Historical Mystery.
I received Byrd’s Eye View from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
I absolutely love all of the characters in these novels. And love how each novel is so different. The characters continue to grow emotionally and mentally with each read, particularly for Madeline and Louisa. Their relationships are so wonderful to observe and see how they change over time.
I look forward to the next novel in this series. Yet, I will miss the characters and these novels terribly, given it will be the final book in the series.
