Product description

In the year 2028 a massive meteor impacted in California's Mojave Desert. The U.S. military were quickly able to isolate the impact site and a top scientific team was dispatched to the zone to examine the meteor. Over the next two decades an underground research facility was built to examine the extra-terrestrial origins and the bizarre effects that the meteor is having on the natural environment and the people who come in contact with it. Now, twenty years after the meteor's arrival on earth, all communications are lost with the C.O.R.E. facility. If you like first shooter games this one will be right up your alley. Takes a small amount of time to get the knack of the flow.. But once you've got it you'll be flying though each level. Very addictive game that you won't want to put down. Hard to believe I found the game and it was brand new. Highly recommend this game.

If you have played MOON for the DS you will be disappointed with CORE. While CORE has great graphics it lacks the basics to make game play fun and smooth. The mission you are on doesn't make much sense and the lack of a map is very frustrating. You have corridors with lots of doors and few open. It's much like being herded rather than exploring. The text in the game is done in a very hard to read font and when the dialog pops up when a character is speaking, it goes by so fast you almost miss it and there is no back option to read it again. There are save points but they are so random and far between on the lavels, especially the upper levels, that you wind up getting bored. The saving grace for this game, though I haven't tried it yet, maybe the multi-player mode. The multi-player mode does not require all gamers to have a copy of the game, which is nice, and it is supposed to allow free play so all participants can play cooperatively or against one another. This maybe good. I don't yet. Overall my opinion is save your money.

The game was very fun, the graphics are what you would expect from a DS game, you can tell they did theyre best, its not a freaking PS3 so idk why people expect so much. The frame rate however was amazing! Everything moves so smooth, the story mode was ok, you can tell they just made it up to give you an excuse to "Run and Gun". Which is fine with me because thats what im all about. What is the most fun though, was multiplayer. Wow multiplayer is extreamly fun me and my bro played and i was looooooving it!!!! They really took time for creating everything in multiplayer from 10 stages, 8 different guns, and power-ups. This game was great so idk wtf everyone else is complaining about.

The controls of this game were very hard for me to handle. I really tried but just could not get through the hurdle that the system was for this type of game. Anyway, it may be okay for a RIGHT handed person (which I still doubt), but my being LEFT handed, I was supposed to use the D-pad to move (forward, back, strafe left, strafe right) and the touch screen to aim (right hand in order to turn and aim) with the left forefinger to primary fire and left finger to alternate fire.

Switching to Left hand mode swaps sides so you use the buttons as forward, back, strafe left, strafe right which does make it a bit better but still annoying nevertheless.

Just to add, I can write legibly with both my left and right hands and yet I still found the controls annoying enough to quite playing and switch back to go-to games like Legend of Kage 2 or Ninja Gaiden. In summary, if you want a 1st person shooter, stick to the consoles (or computers) although I haven't tried the Metroid games so I can't speak for them.

Alternatively, maybe there is an adjustment phase because I am used to Xbox controllers with stick controls for shooters although I wouldn't figure because I use the DS frequently with other games. I hope you have better enjoyment than I did.

SP Campaign is very short and very bland, You could probably beat the game in less than an hour. Music is repeditive, level design is basic and AI is just stupid. It calls itself a "classic shooter" but It would be a spec of dust compared to the greatness of Doom or Quake, Which, if you have an R4, Acekard or other Homebrew running slot 1 cartridge along with the original disks for the games, you can get unofficial DS ports of both.

Multiplayer is probably more where this game is focused, play with up to 4 friends. I've never been much for multiplayer and there are no offline bots, even if there were they probably wouldn't be very good considering the horrible single player AI.
