Screwed up my trackpad

This does the job, however, it screwed up my Macbook Air's trackpad. Because of this thing's thickness, when the Air's lid is closed, this thing presses a bit against the trackpad. Over time, my Air thought the trackpad button was constantly being pressed, and so whenever I moved my mouse it would annoyingly highlight text or drag things around. No good!

Fortunately I was able to fix this by literally bending (slightly) my Air. The button "popped" back out.

I have an Dell gaming laptop thats pitch black with an blue backlit keyboard, I was worried that the webcam cover was going to show but I was pleasantly surprised when I stuck the cover on and it blended in with my laptop. It does its job and I haven't had any major issues with it, the only issue I have with it is that; given the placement of the camera on my laptop the webcam cover actually covers my camera a little bit so if I wanted to use it I would have an black bar on the top of my photo. Other than that (I dont really care about it since I wont use my camera for anything) its an pretty great sturdy product.

Once I got it I put it on my MacBook webcam. When I closed my MacBook, I noticed the webcam cover was preventing my MacBook from closing all the way. Tried taking off the webcam cover to adjust it so my MacBook can close correctly only have to the webcam cover break into 3 pieces. I DO NOT recommend this product for laptops. Maybe desktops only.

I’d previously purchased a 3 pack (different brand) of covers for three black laptops in our house. We upgraded one laptop for the new school year and it was silver, which that brand didn’t offer. I found this one in silver with good reviews (at almost the same price as the 3 pack 🙄). Not a fan. It’s definitely much flimsier, I’m guessing if my kid has to start zoom/online classes again this pandemic (wow, btw, at that whole statement), the cover piece will fall off at some point. It’s also rectangular shaped so it’s tough to line up exactly right, especially being flimsy, plus it’s quite a bit bigger (and more obvious) than those I’d previously purchased which makes it look super awkward if it isn’t straight. (I’ll say it’s my own fault for not checking the exact size! I wouldn’t take a star off for that, only for the flimsiness!)

Much More Practicle Than Tape

The product arrived in perfect condition. I have recently gotten a new Accer Google Chromebook with a facecam that I will never use and I would like to cover it. Call me paranoid, but I cover all facecams on all my devices. On my old laptop I had used tape and it did the trick, but it was extremely impracticle. The tape would get dirty and if I needed the camera the tape would leave a mess of sticky gunk all over the top of my laptop and the bottom of the track pad if I closed it. I wanted to keep my new laptop clean but also still have my privacy. This is amazing. This cover is small and easy to attach. Much more practicle than tape ,and if I need to use my cam I can slide the plstic window over. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to cover thier facecam on their laptop. The mailing process was great and the product works perfect.

I have now tried three/four different products from Amazon to hide the cameras on my computers. The i-Stop, the CamPatch and both of the SolPal C-Slide Web Cam covers.

There is the i-stop with a snap open case that is just a poor design. I did not even bother gluing it to my computer. The snap was too hard to open.

There is this product, the SolPal C-Slide WebCam covers. I ordered two versions of this product and both showed up with even more annoying logo branding than the CamPatch. After a back and forth with the owner, where I explained with screenshots that the product I received has logo branding, but his product pictures do not, he sent me new product with no branding.

These were OK except that the iMac gets really hot, and the glue was melty which resulted in the SolPal WebCam covers moving a little, and since the glue is not re-stickable like the CamPatch, you end up trying to level it and leaving glue marks.

One other point to mention, is that unlike the C-slide with the little eye on it, you have to look closely at this one to see if it is Open or Closed. My iMac is black around the rim so this C-slide blends in with the iMac. This is wonderful if you want it to blend perfectly, but I found myself checking all the time if it was open. This would not be an issue if the rim of the computer were silver. If Ron the C-Slide guy could upgrade the glue and consider an option with a small eye to know if it were open then this product would be a winner.

In the end, I chose the CamPatch, despite that it also has an annoying logo on the front. It was the lesser of evils. I always know that the camera is covered. I don't have to worry about trying to remove sticky glue and scratching my screen. I can move it around all I like and re-stick it with out a problem.

Lowering to 1 star. I should've listened to the other reviewers complaining that this thing cracked their screen. It just happened to me on a MacBook Pro 13". A crack just starting from the corner of the cam blocker. There's something flawed in this design.

I had the previous version, which was more like an oval, it was thicker but I used it for 3 years on the same machine and never a problem. This thin one surprisingly is a screen killer.

Original review (4 stars):
C-Slide used to make a really good design but I guess is used too much plastic. This version is flimsy, though you don't need thick/sturdy plastic for the purpose, but closing and opening it feels a bit wrong and wobbly.

Seems to be safe for MacBook Pro. Been using for 2 weeks now and no issue. Wonder how someone can crack a screen with this thing. The previous version was even bulkier and still on another MacBook Pro without causing issues.
