Product Description

CRL Cerium Oxide is a high grade optical polishing compound used to lessen and polish scratches from mirror bevels, table top edges, glass in vehicles or structures. CRL Cerium Oxide is mixed with water to form a paste or slurry. This compound has excellent suspension qualities and will not harden. Contains no zinc oxide, and meets most local disposal ordinances. This Cerium Oxide Compound can be used with a hand pad for light surface cleanup, powered hand devices for scratch and surface repair, mechanized scrubbers in mirror silvering lines, or as the final polishing step in multi-stage edging and bevelling equipment.

It does work on windshields ,my car had a very very very deep scratch , what i did i used a water sandpaper(black metal sand paper)started with 500 till i couldn't feel the scratch then resanded with 1500 sandpaper at last cerium oxide!!!!

I cann't even spot where the scratch was.and btw this was done in a tempered glass so all the sanding was made by hand it took 3 saturday afternoons and lots lots of water.

The only thing i couldn't find the right amount of water and cerium so i had to make 2 mixes till i got it right.

No special tools needed just a real nice workout by the sanding by hand.sure it would be easier to but a new windshield but it was a nice weekend project and i could prove my friends a deep scratch can be removed under 30us$

I bought this to repair a scratched smartphone with gorilla glass and it worked really well. Took forever, but I eventually just glued a dremel polishing tip to an old drill bit and used my cordless drill and it went away in minutes.

So I have a tub of this stuff left and decided to try to polish some old eyeglasses I had around. I couldn't remember if they were glass or polycarbonite, but soon after attempting it, I realized they were indeed plastic. You'll get a white haze and if you keep going, you'll probably bubble up in spots because it got too hot. I didn't really care about them, but thought it was worth a shot. I spent maybe 45 mintues just see what would happen on a single spot and it just doesn't work.

Bought this CRL Cerium Oxide from Showerdoordirect but the product was not the real CRL Cerium Oxide I've bought before. The jar label was not blue but instead black and was printed with a cheap printer. Bait and switch. The contents were so diluted that the color was not even pinkish like the pictures but almost white. Cutting action was 1/4 the other jar I have. When mixing with distilled water the fillers will separate and you can see how much white colored filler has been added. Some real Cerium oxide will settle on the bottom but it's only about 25% of the Cerium Oxide content that you'll find in real CRL.

I have really liked this product. I originally bought it to take a big scratch out of a mirror. It didn't work very well for that purpose, but I didn't use a buffer with it and the scratch was really bad. However, I really like it for cleaning the stainless steel appliances when they get really tacky and messy. You know what a problem that is. I use this first and buff it off with a soft towel. It hasn't scratched the appliances. It doesn't leave a shine, so I apply the regular spray on stainless steel cleaner afterwards. Perfect for when your appliances really have to look nice.

This product helped me clean years of hard water stains off the outside of a window I can't replace. The only thing I would suggest is to get a few extra glass scrubber pads if you have a big job so you don't run out.

I had a pretty nasty scratch on my Galaxy S phone screen (gorilla glass) and then made it worse trying to fix it with other stuff. It was very visible while using the phone, especially on a white background - a rainbow scratch line and then lighter rainbow haze around it from the failed fix attempt. I used this cerium oxide with a Dremel felt polishing wheel and almost completely repaired it. It is not visible at all now while using the phone; you can only see a soft scratch when the screen is off. I may have been able to remove it completely if I kept going. You have to be patient and keep working at it - I spent at least 15 minutes on it. I wish it was sold in sizes less than a pound, but it was worth it anyway. I might try it on my windshield as well.

After mixing this with water I used it on a 7" random orbital polisher with a sheeps wool pad to remove water spots from my 2008 Escalade's windows and windshield. Before I bought this I was using Bar Keepers Friend, which would remove most of the water spots but a few tough ones on the windshield and sunroom stayed. I read to try 0000 steel wool with the BKF on the hard water spots. This worked but left a lot of very small scratches that when hit with lit left swirls and light rings around the source. After using this the fine scratches were gone. A few deep scratches from rocks etc still remained but the damage I caused with the steel wool was removed. It took about 5 hours from start to finish to do the driver, passenger, and windshield. Each window took about three separate times. And it makes a mess flinging the milky like mixture everywhere which I washed off the paint after each try.

Like I said it worked, but was a major pain in the butt.

I bought this to remove scratches from my fish tank. If you plan on using it to remove scratches from glass, make sure that the glass is worth repairing ... i.e. expensive to replace. It took me all day to remove the scratches ... mostly. There are still some very fine ones, but when the tank is filled, they are hardly noticeable.
