A perfect design which has survived two decades
I was amazed to find this design of crimper on Amazon. The IT company I worked for 20 years ago used the exact same ones. I can't tell you how many hundreds of cables I made with these back in the day. After receiving my own pair many years later, I can say that they're still as excellent today as they were back then. The ratcheting click as you crimp on the connector is a truly satisfying experience. Nostalgia aside, these are great crimpers.

While Xuron makes some really nice cutters, their lower-end models, such as the 170, don't work well for my needs for one major reason: their off-set blades don't cut well right at the tip. They cut very well in the middle of the blade, but not so much right at the tip.

These snips, however, have a more conventional design with the blades meeting flush to one another. They cut wonderfully right at the tip, as well as further back on the blade.

These are not as well-made as the Xuron, but the build quality is decent for the price (although you want to wait for a price dip - they are a good value at around the $8 or less range). The handles are plastic coated, and there's a spring that keep the blades in the open position. The spring seems rather weak and made some creaking, squeaking noises at first. A bit of lube cured that pretty well.

I use this mainly for wick and wire trimming when rebuilding atomizers, so the heaviest wire I cut is 28 gauge (and usually 30 to 34). Snips through those effortlessly. I'm especially pleased with how it cuts silica wick cleanly with no fraying at the ends. As long as what you want to cut is a thin guage wire, these will do the trick.

If you don't need cutting action at the tip take a look at the Xuron. Otherwise, these are a great choice for a value set of flush cutters with the ability to cut right at the tip of the blade.

Style: Keystone Punchdown PuckVerified Purchase
As I began doing cable installations, I did not see many of my coworkers using pucks for punching down keystone jacks, but the tool came recommended on some YouTube tutorial videos, so I gave it a try. When you have a hard surface to work on, you may not need it, but a lot of the time, you are up on a ladder or in a cluttered construction area and that's when this little tool can come in handy. The keystone jack rests safely in the socket of your puck and is less likely to slip in there. It protects you from destroying keystone jacks if your hand slips and you punch is not quite aimed straight down as it should be. If you don't slip, your hand is also less likely to be speared by your punch tool.
It is a great tool for people who don't do a lot of punch-down work and could benefit from something to hold the keystone jack steady. More seasoned network installation techs may not bother, but I have learned that even some of them prefer to work with a puck when punching down keystone jacks.
Monoprice Cat5e Punch Down Keystone Jack - White  Compared to RJ45 clips, keystone jacks are not cheap and you may not have enough in your tool kit to risk ruining one. Get a Punch-down puck! It will pay for itself in a short time.

It is simple and basic. I cannot find any markings on the handles for a voltage rating, so the handles are not rated for electrical protection, although I am sure they would protect you as long as they are not split.

The finish looks a bit rough, but that is easily forgiven considering how inexpensive they are and how well they work. Mine also did not cut at the hinge, but they are not meant for that. Use ordinary cutters for cutting wire, these are meant for cutting wires off flush with the surface of PCBs and you do only use the ends for that.

I cannot yet say how hard-wearing they are, but I would not advise trying to cut high-tensile steel like piano wire or steel guitar strings. I think that might damage the cutting edges, leaving a hole where the edges are supposed to meet. I had to buy a special pair of cutters for steel wire. Usually these smaller cutters are rated only for cutting soft metals like copper and aluminum wires.

I wanted something for small wire. There are so many that are sold with two pieces of spring metal that are cheap and don't work well. This one is build well and uses a spring to keep them open. For the price I think they are well worth it. I notices some people say they do not cut at the tip. Well I see no problems at all and it can cut the smallest of wire or string without a problem.

I used to work on electronics and had a similar pair, and this one works just as good. I would defiantly buy this rather than the others that are build much cheaper. Hope this helps someone trying to compare and buy.

As with most small side cutting pliers, these will not do a very good job on thick steel wire. The appearance is a little rougher than on a higher priced pliers, but it's not coarse by any means. The joint is tight but moves freely, and the handles are comfortable. If used on small gauge, soft wire like florists wire or for electronics, they will do a fine job.

These are a great asset to your toolbox. It has many screwdrivers and have a solid build. They will not be the same as ones that you pay 50+ for, but they do a perfect job in small tasks. I have used these to take apart a laptop, phone, etc. They work and fit perfectly, without stripping the screw. I bought these a few months ago and have used them several times. For the price they seem to be of a decent quality. The biggest drawback is the case, the screwdrivers fell out of case and were all over the shipping box. One driver came up missing. They also fall out every time you try to move the case because of the cheap plastic. but you get what you pay for and overall the drivers are ok.

I previously had a cheaper set of flush cutters which shattered when attempting to cut the 16awg wire pictured, these looked more durable and they seem to handle this wire thickness with no visible dents in the cutting edges. I've used them for several electronics projects mostly cutting headers and through-hole component leads. So far they have handled everything excellently making it easy to trim wires completely flush to surfaces.

Very disappointed. This punch down tool only fits their CAT5e keystones. Bought this and a ton of CAT6 Keystones. Doesn't work. C2G made their CAT6 keystones just a little bit longer, but long enough to make this tool useless. For them. If you stick with their CAT5e Keystones I guess you will be fine.
