You MUST try this on bass amp!!! Easily 5 stars in this application.
Perhaps the CAD has a lower mass diaphragm perhaps or isn't filtered as much so it's a bit more lively in my experience making it difficult to crank up to the same volume levels without clipping. Might actually be advantageous for getting a more pure acoustic tone. I play modern rock/funk/metal and am looking for a more processed punchy tone so I personally might prefer the AKG which I can more easily dial in the punchy modern bass drum sound at higher levels in my mix without clipping.
On a higher quality mixer with a good preamp you can likely get identical tones from this mic as much more expensive units but out of the box directly into a basic mixer you can tell some difference in volume. Much better value for money comparatively so I give it 5 stars.

Excellent value in low frequency microphone ; works well for kick drum and bass guitar cabs.Published 21 days ago by Charles C Johnson
Cheap, decent build, deep bassy recordings. I bought it to mic my bass amp and now I figure I'll use it in conjunction with my 57 clone to record guitar and bass. Why not?Published 4 months ago by chad lyle
I used this mic for the first time today at an outdoor gig. I run my drums through a 4000 watt amp to two 18" bass speakers. Read morePublished 4 months ago by Joe Toland
