First things first, if you don't want to read about rape, torture and murder don't read this book, it's not for you. Warning done.
Two brothers who shared a womb, but like Harry Potter and Lord Voldermort neither can live whilst the other survives. They share a need to destroy each other and take what belongs to them.
Faye had me worried. Which path would she choose?
Just for the record - I'm team Cade. Dante is too much of a mixed up nutcase for me.
"Real love is sacrifice, unconditional, selfless and benevolent. Love is watching you from afar, happy in the knowledge that as long as you were happy, I would never tell you of my feelings. I would hold them inside and worship the feeling of knowing I felt true love. Love is craving your company, counting the thuds in my chest when you walk into a room because it's the only sound I can hear. Love is the electricity that ignites every nerve when you brush against me. Love is the million dragonflies taking flight inside my gut when I hear you giggle. If love was physical to touch, it would be your form."
"Please untouch me, unlove me, unhate me; delete it all. Erase us and let me do the same. Let me go. Please."
"Each tear that falls from you drowns my heart a little bit more."
"Love is painful, the most painful thing we endure on this earth but it's also non-judgmental; it's shameless and freeing the other person of all the things they find imperfect about themselves because to the person that loves them there is no such thing. Love is pure, true, enduring and for me, everlasting. I would love her forever and cherish the time we had."
Totally love the nod to Maroon 5!
Cadence picks up where Facade left off~~ except we have a new player in the game of love ~~ Cade! Dante's twin comes into the story and makes his presence known.
Cade has never given up on Faye, never believing that she was gone.
"I knew my woman was out there my soul was tethered to hers and it still sensed her essence. I would never rest until I found her"- Cade
Cade continues searching and finally catches a break only to come to the realization that his twin Dante has had his Faye this entire time...and this means war! Cade will not give up until he is reunited with his other half and will walk through hell to get her back!
Faye a.k.a. Star is forced to play a part and continues to be tormented by Dante, not knowing who she can trust and not realizing that even bigger betrayals will surface in the future. As new enemies are revealed Faye is forced to make some tough decisions that bring her closer to the devils lair.
Will she make it out? Will Dante prevail over Cade? How far will Cade go in order to save his other half... And who is his other half -- his twin or his soul mate?
Check out this exciting conclusion to Facade and see!! You will be captivated from the first word in this 5 STAR read!!
**I was given Cadence in exchange for an honest review -- I read Book one Facade as a paying customer**
That said, CADEnce was completely worth struggling through Facade (a good read, but a little slow). This final installment to the Deception Books, was completely out of my normal wheelhouse and I am so glad it did. Perhaps Facade was meant to ease me into Ker & D.H.'s world slowly and prep me for CADEnce. I may not have been able to handle it otherwise. The read was dark, gritty, frighteningly realistic, and for the most part had all the elements I needed to satisfy my hunger. The romance wasn't overdone, nor was the blackness of the story line. It was a good balance and the pace was just right.
I said in my review of FaCADE that that was the "ok" appetizer for the main course. CADEnce was the perfectly seasoned, juicy steak with the twice baked potato cooked to perfection and a side of butter and garlic aioli asparagus. The kind of meal you devour but want to chew slowly to savor every decadent morsel. When you finish the last bite, you are satisfied but a little sad it's over. The little bit at the end was a cherry on my whipped cream (pun intended) dessert. Then there is dessert, Beneath Innocence (Deception Novella).
The price of a good meal is worth payment. Ker & D.H. now own my soul in the Dark Reads category.
